I think my turbos gone:(

warranty games

I'm getting my 07's turbo replaced under warranty right now. Mazda played some games with me first - changed the oil to 5w40, car stopped smoking, sent me home, smoke returned a week later. After I brought it back in they wouldn't give the "ok" until the dealership e-mailed a video of the car smoking. An angry phone call got the "ok" though (rant) The tech at the dealership couldn't tell me what revision the turbo was, but I'll post it when I get the service printout in case there's been a newer revision since the "C."

-Oh yeah, my O2 sensor "cracked" when they tried to remove it so I'm getting that replaced too. Another 2 days in the shop while it's shipping, but I'll take it.

im wondering, if in the process of a warranty based turbo replacement, if you can ask for the turbo itself to take elsewhere (protege garage) and then give it back to mazda to install. my dealership probably would since i'd be telling them the truth and they would be enthusiastically happy that i was going above and beyond to ensure the health of the car, but i wonder if anyone has sacrificed a couple weeks to do this.

I really doubt they would, since in most cases they keep the original removed parts, and the way MNAO warranty has been lately, no matter how good the dealer is, they've got a set of protocols to follow regarding a turbo replacement on any MS vehicle. They'll just do a 1-for-1 swap and put it back together and send you on your way.
