I think i may have the deal od a lifetime on FMIC!!!!

hey loudpdl what part of cincy you from and hey Ion i beleive if you guys had your website in better condition people may go look around and check out product... if there is no discriptions of product and no pictures of finished product it makes some people uneasy.

Sorry if you've covered this, It's been a while since last reading the whole post. Are you plannig on routing the IC piping around the radiator and stock IC? Meaning though holes we have to cut in the splash gaurd.

MazdaSpeedTurbo, I'm from Mason, what about you? I heard that Edgewater is open for weekends starting today. I'm not sure I want to go before I get an FMIC (hopefully within a month), but I'd talk myself into it if there will be some other MSPs there.

!

This is getting pretty long, make sure to keep us updated! There are so many things I want, I have to go for the best bang for the buck. (uhm) (as well as the best upgrades, most efficient/safe) (2thumbs)

Long????

The thread or time frame?

Its been 2 weeks!!!!!! cost to much to ship fast so it takes up to five days to get some of the stuff!!!

Im trying to move fast i sware!!!

Well after 6 long hours of removing the bumper measuring problem solving every possability this is what i came up with.

kit will consist of:

9 - 90 degree connectors (we will most likely reduce this with welds to lessen cost.)
1- straight connector
1 - reduced from 2.5" to 2" connector
22 - T-bolt clamps
7.4 feet of pipe
and some cutting - there is now way around this (bad layout of engine)

horizontal frame need to be cut, luckely its thin cheap metal and a dremal should cut through it like butter. make sure you fet some paint and spray or brush what you cut or it will rust.

bottom view- 2.5" in from foam 1.75" in and 3" up

Now where the pipes need to go is funnnnnn!

Looking at the car from the front:

left - we are going low, skimming the splash guard in order to avoid all the crap here. also the fram is intricate here and the lower area is the easiest to cut into. we will go right next to the washer fluid. washer fluid will not be moved. The pipe on this side is 2" so their should be enough room.

right - we are doing the same as the left and hugging the frame wall here too to allow for a CAI (hopefully).

Bumper - the innards of the bumper need to be shaved down where the fog light would go (yet another stupid design by Mazda. How the CAI gets any air hear is amazing since there is a big wall of metal here.

You will need to cut 4 holes left-2.25" right-2.75". These holes are extremely hidden so aesthetics is not the biggest deal here but make sure you paint the new cuts!!!!

I am ordering the pipes and connectors this week! I will keep you all informed!!!!

Oh and short ram will be a 1 45 degree and 90 degree connector and i 90 degree pipe and 2 straight connects and a striaght pipe.

Thats alot of parts needed for piping. Try to rethink your layout. Theres more then one way to run the piping on the MSP. Take a look at other kits such as the ION/EssentialSpeed/Wagner and the custom ones done on MSP. I have the IC and didn't require that much parts or cutting.

Please pardon my ignorance but what exactly does FMIC stand for. I understand ya'll are talking about an intercooler, I'm not that stupid.(uhm)

Hi I been here for about 3 weeks so far and have read and read and read. I really wanted a FMIC but 900 is waaaaayyyy to much for a couple of peices of metal. so i did some reseach and pulled in a few favors and i think i came up with the perfect solution.
interested in a 650 dollar FMIC, Brand new.

HAHAH beat me too it lmao

Well after some review i will change the piping on the left, from the turbo to the IC!

The right from IC to TB will stay for 2 reasons
1. Want to stay compatable with Injen CAI
2. to do this I need to stay tight around the frame so your have room for the CAI filter!

Thanks, was wondering about the acronym. I understood that if refered to intercoolers. I was thinking Formed Metal like in a custom made intercooler as opposed to a stamped metal or cast metal item made in high production. Excuse me for being a novice in regards to turbocharging. I'm sure you didn't pop out of your mothers womb knowing everything about turbos. I'm just trying to learn.

Center bar is removed here

More to come as we get going on this. Like we said Step By Step Instructions!!!!!

Reffoxel, no worries. This forum has a lot of good information, but itsn't too newbie friendly if you ask me. The only thing I can suggest is to use the search function before asking a question and maybe even do some research on google or something. I've seen guys jump on somebody for reposting a question that was addressed 2 weeks ago and then the thread goes on for 5 pages. Obviously people wanted to talk about it or there wouldn't be 5 pages on it.

Later

For the IC you are using you will have to remove or trim the rebar so the IC can fit. I'll post a pic of mine to show you how I made mine fit.
