So i got mount inserts from RR racing the other day and today i went to install them. Problem is I cannot push them are enough into the mount in order to actually use them. So am i doing something wrong that I cannot see or are the mounts poorly manufactured and I need to get different ones.

You need to secure them in place with zip-ties even when they are the proper size. Did you try using zip ties to get them more tightly into there?

Also, you could try putting them in the freezer to get them cold, they should shrink up and then put them in the mounts and they'll expand and be snug. This is just an idea, never tried it, so it's at your own risk, lol. ;)

there is no possible way to press those things in any further than they are. they are hitting each other in the middle of the mount

ahhh, u got em upside down? idk, man. Call up where you bought em from & ask them. they should tell you whats up.

have you tried fitting it to the car with them like that?

cant even get them close to fitting like that. the outside of the insert has to be flush with that metal ring in the 2nd picture. I got an email back from RR racing asking for pictures and havnt heard anything back since sending the pictures to them

when i look at the corksport inserts, i can see that they are much thinner than the ones that i got so i can see from those pictures, that mine are far too thick to be usable http://www.corksport.com/corksport-motor-mount-insert-set-for-protege.html

Is there not a way to slide them around so the pieces don't hit each other? Sorry, I don't know what the RR inserts look like off hand. Do you have a pic of them not in the mount??

It seems that you would have room to move them within there, but again, I'm not 100% sure what you're working with...

Or, just say F it, and upgrade to the AWR front mount, lol.

i haven't read of anyone putting in front mount inserts before.... usually inserts are for the side mounts only

i believe... i just haven't really read about anyone doing them... mostly just for the sides

The side mounts are more $$, so maybe that's why. I got my front & rear AWR mounts for the same price as my AWR passenger mount... lol

here is what the inserts look like by themselves

im hoping they will send me out mounts to fix this problem. if the two mounts were stacked on top of one another, they are about 1/2 inch thicker than the motor mount, meaning there is no way they can fit into the car

theEZV: did yours look just like this or were yours smaller/thinner?

mine went fairly easily, had to hit the mount with a hammer a buch of times to get it to slide into place w/the inserts. they are supposed to stick out a bit. have you actually tried getting the mount installed?

i have CS front inserts and they went in no problem, they do stick out a bit more, try putting lithium grease on the inside of the mount, slide the inserts in and then put more grease on the outside so you can push the mount+inserts into place on the car

i dont understand how if the mount as a very very small amount of play when installed, how could having inserts sticking out an extra 1/2 inch possibly fit. ive tried hitting the inserts in quite a bit, squeezing them, everything.

and yes ive tried installing the mount like it is shown in the 1st pictures and it was a no go

so i just took a measurement of the space in the bracket that the mount would go into in the car. it was 2.5inches.

if the inserts were stacked they measure 3 inches. So i either got bad inserts or the wavy parts of the mounts need to be slammed together and interlock with eachother in someway inside the mount. Im not so sure that it should be that way though because then they wont be lined up with eachother, one will sit on top of the other

Shave off .25 inches from each insert...

well im not going to shave down a brand new part, they should fit right from the factory. I just wanted to see if i was doing something wrong or if they were just not made to correct spec.

and it seems to me like they were made up too big, especially when i compare how they look to the CS ones
