2003 5-speed Protege5
Greetings,

I've been (lurk) here occassionally for a while and even made a handful of posts. I realized I now visit daily, so I thought I'd introduce myself and the Yellow Delight. It's an 03 bought new and is coming up on 30K miles. I take it to the track; in fact here is a picture at Spokane just last weekend.

I am a relatively novice driver on track, so I will be spending on performance driving schools. I once asked an instructor what I could upgrade to make the car faster, and he replied "the driver". (owned) The car is stock and I intend to keep it mostly that way. As I get better, I hope to have another purely track car. The Protege5 an awesome vehicle and I hope to keep it my daily driver for as far as I can forsee. I don't have much experience working on cars either, but with the wealth of information on these forums, I am thinking of doing the 30K service myself. I will let you know when I have been 'deflowered'. :D

So, yeah (hi) Now if somebody would be so kind as to point me to the fridge of beer everyone keeps talking about... (cheers)(beer)(drunk)

Welcome, good to see a P5 out on the track. Its pretty much my dream to take my car out onto a real road course even if only for a day.

yeah, welcome to the forum. lots of good info here.

nice choice on the P5!

Welcome to our happy little corner of the net. There is a BIG fridge in the corner with just about anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. (stash)

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!! (stash)

Glad to see you've found a lot of good info here already and that you are racing legally. :)

Thanks folks. I know I said I wanted to keep the car stock, but it is getting harder and harder to ignore the GB on the Simota Twin Charger CAI.

yes -> (enguard) <- no

Ah! Thanks Katya4me (friday) I'm still taking driver clinics, so not quite "racing" yet - all in good time :) But yeah, getting to drive on the track took the agression out of street driving. That should help with the insurance next year. I am currently getting (upbum) for two at-fault accidents almost 3 years back.

gottacatchup: should be quite easy to do. I actually run with the local BMWCCA. They don't require you to own a BMW and I signed up for their membership since I intend to keep taking their excellent schools. You can investigate something similar in your area.

Welcome! I love the integration of smileys into your text! It's fun to read!!!
Enjoy your P5, I know I do!!

Welcome and no beer left in fridge. Sorry bro.

I thought I told you to STAY OUT OF THE DANG FRIDGE!!! GEEZ! Thats it, go get more refreshments and don't drink em all before you come back!

Could be worse....It could be empty, dirty, or full of v8 juice instead.

Yeah, some of these smileys/pictures lend themselves quite nicely to what I want to articulate :) I was wondering if it's funny or annoying. Donas64, your post with the picture of the fridge was a riot! (lol2) (hah)
