I have been doing serious research on all the additions / mods I need for the new 2008.5 I plan to order. Since I am ordering it direct from factory, I am making sure all the options are ordered and installed there. But I'm stuck on a few of the options, one of those being the stock Anti-Theft Deterrent System and Remote starter.
I am in the US so from all the research i've done, there is no switch blade key fobs here, though that was one of my biggest wants, so that canceled any fear of the system not being compatible with the on key buttons. Also the stock alarm system seems to only trigger when the doors are forced open, not in the event of someone breaking my windows or something like that.
My 2007 3 s Touring I had the Omega Max security system installed by the dealer for about $250 when I bought the car, that included remote start functionality. But the Touring line doesn't come with the stock alarm system, so it was an almost mandatory addition.
1. Should I replace the stock alarm system with a 3rd party product? Is it difficult to by pass the factory alarm system and will it cost me more for the install?
2. Should I get the remote start from the factory, or purchase one with the 3rd alarm? can the factory remote start function with a 3rd party alarm system?
3. How many key fobs (alarm remotes, i don't know all the terminology) will I be walking around with? Is there a separate one for the doors and the remote start?
4. Is there anything I'm not considering that could be an hindrance or benefit to know ahead of time with regard to the alarm system.
5. Does anyone know any 2-way alarm systems with excellent range, I sometimes have to park 2 to 3 blocks away and if i went 3rd party would want 2 way notification as well as the ability to remote start the car from that distance if at all possible.
6. Does the Mazda 3 support the install of a pressure sensitive alarm system?
7. Are there any systems which allow remote truck release or mods for that support using a 3rd party alarm system?
Thank you all in advance.
