I have a MP3, it is currently factory I am really getting into the street racing scene and need a little bit more speed. I'm hoping that someone out there can give me so advice on what can give me more hp quick

PLZ HELP!!!!!!!!

first off- hello and welcome to the board!!(drinks)

the forum has a search function and you can search for specific words such as "turbo" or "intake".

browse the performance and the forced induction board for more info on "go fast" upgrades. there are plenty of posts referring to power here.

your best bet for quick power gains will be 1)turbo 2)nitrous

hope you enjoy your stay!

also, the thread that says "Sticky: MP3 Aftermarket Performance Guide" is a great place to look at all the possible options you have.

I hope you find everything you need, but please be carefull while street racing. A few members on the board (me being one of them) don't really take to lightly to street racing.

In order for you to really compete out there, you will probably need some nitrous.

NOOOOOOO! Don't tell him to use nitrous! It can work if done correctly, but I know firsthand what can happen if it is not done right. I replaced my engine in my MP3 at the start of this year due to nitrous. :'( I meleted a hole right through the piston in cylinder 1. The advanced timing and the lack of adequate fuel supply at the right time makes running nitrous in the MP3 a challenge. There are some who have successfully done it, but I would suggest a turbo kit such as the one here:

FM Protege Turbo

I already have one on the way to me (prototype kit from Bell Engineering).

And as far as the racing goes....do yourself and others a favor....keep in on a track....not the street. one of our members just had a friend get killed street racing.....another painful reminder why you shouldn't.

I agree with Nuke... Racing should be done at the track. Too many innocent people can get hurt when street racing. Please be careful.

Yep, don't race on the street!

No help from me if your going to do stupid things like that.

Want to go faster, don't street race, you risk losing your license and your car...Then you'll be really slow.

I agree. Keep the racing on the track. That is why I have been road-racing motorcycles for the past 5 years. Keeps me from doing stupid crap on the street while still feeding my desire to go stupid fast but in a nice controlled environment.

You can really tell the maturity of the majority of posters here. It's good to see people who love their cars take a stand against street racing. I've heard a lot of horror stories about street racing and they seem to be getting more common all the time.
Not trying to be preachy...but if you absolutely are going to do it...please at the very least take it to some abandoned road where innocent people can't get hurt.

I think the best way to get more power is to go turbo as long as you do it properly. Of course this is also a very involved and expensive process. You can get performance gains, albeit smaller ones from a lot stuff...the most common being the Intake/Headers/Exhaust combination that most people who are staying NA go with. As mentioned, check out the part guide for more information.

If you are into street racing you bought the wrong car, should have bought something that is better in a drag race. Go race in some SCCA autocross events, that is what your car is good at...Besides, it's a lot safer.

Yeah man you should try an autocross or something. After a while youll see how stupid street racing is. And once you try a real form of motorsports youll never look back.

If you want real bragging rights you cant get them on the street(no numbers to go with your kill stories = no respect).

Plus Drag racing is a horrible waste of an MP3.
