I need some advice/help

Hello to anyone who is reading this thread, i am currently a new member to this forum and i would like to ask a few questions about tha Mazda MP3. I am currently looking into buying one myself because i love the model and i feel like that car will suit my style if you get what im sayin. First off one of my questions is that how much do these cars run for? I ask this just so i can know if im gettin jipped off or not. Second are these models stopped bein made? And third is there anything i should know before purchasing one? No one wants to purchase a car and later find out that theres problems that are to much to fix. And tha lat one is that how is tha insurance prices for these models since it has the turbo n everything. Thanks for anyones time and input. Peace

They were only made in 2001 as far as i know, then the msp in 2003. Im pretty sure that the Mp3 did not come with a turbo from the factory, so that means that its been modified.

Bump for more info from others..

If the car turns out to be in good running order, i know that you will be pleased.

I got my MP3 two weeks ago. Love it. Mine had 51k on it with a little body work needed. He was asking $10K, I paid $8k. I just need to drop about $1K into it for body work. Otherwise it is perfect

Oh yeah where did you buy one from? Thas cool that you got it for 8, hopefully someones not tryin to charge me a price thas to high for one. Does anyone know where i can buy them from? Or am i gonna have to look at all independent sellers? Any advice?

Just to be clear, are you asking about the MP3, non-turbo, or the Mazdaspeed (MSP)
factory turbo?
They are two different models made in two different years.

a good price would be 8-9k. if your lookin for one its real easy.....goto autotrader and search for a 2001 protege and on options click manual and only the colors blue and yellow. most of the results will be mp3s. they DID NOT come turbocharged and the insurance on these puppies are actually pretty low. its still a protege. things to look for...................make SURE the a/c work very good. put it on setting #2 (i know it may be cold wherever your at but trust me, make sure it works). MP3 a/c's have a tendancy to go out. mine did. it will first start acting up in position #2 then 3,4 and finally 1 will stop working. just let it run for a while and make sure it doesn't blink or go on and off. turn the radio off during the test drive and listen for what will sound like something bouncing up and down in the trunk. thats what we like to call the klunk. its where the bushings go out on the rear sway bar. happens on all mp3's. it only cost $30 to fix though. only other thing that seems to go out a bunch is the rear power door locks. just hit lock and unlock and make sure they're all workin. and of course if your lookin at one thats been modified you can post pics of it up before you buy it and we can tell you what everything is and how reliable it is. if you got anymore questions let me know. i just sold my mp3 but i still have a mazdaspeed so i as well as all the others on here can help you out.

thanks man you guys have been real helpful. thanks for all tha tips and ill sure put them MP3s come turbo? my friend bought a madza speed protege a while back and he told me tha only thing that was different with tha MP3 is that it has a MP3 player. So im guessin he was wrong huh?

about as wrong as wrong could be.........mp3 was the name givin the that certain car it was hinting that it has a mp3 player. The diffrence between the mp3 and the msp is a turbo lol

ya the only difference are rims, sound system, 3.5 wing, springs, exhaust, ecu, lsd, and TURBO but other than those their about the same.
