i took my car in yesterday for my sub going out, my headunit getting stuck and my ecu to get reflashed... well the guy at the servuce counter asked me why i need to get my car flashed.. i said cause my car hesitates when hot.. well i call this morning to see if my car is done and the service guy told me that my car is driving fine without the flash.. i was like here we go.. i told the service rep that the car does it when the weather is hot.. now the car is driving more normal since the weather here has gotten much cooler.. i think i might be out of luck.. the dealership is john finger mazda in greenville,sc

They cant deny you the flash man. Just take it and tell them that Mazda NA (North America) told you to come in and get it done. If they call anyone, they'll find out you can get it done if you want.

well my buddy with the orange one (Zane) goes in to today to get the sub and amp replaced and the ecu reflashed lets see if he has any problems with this if so im gonna be pissed cause i will be next. dude its a tsb basically a light form of a recall which is not required to be nationally recognized so by law if my understanding is correct they have to do it...

Give John the finger and call Mazda USA to complain about the dealership. Mazda USA has instructed them that it's an intermittent problem (thereby meaning you shouldn't have to "prove" it to them). Plus the dealership is supposed to flash all of their inventory (whether they have the problem or not).

how do i reach mazda usa? i took my car in for reflash they took it for a test drive and said i didnt need it. i was like wtf?! and they said we just dont reflash all the cars we have to feel it happen.:bs:

I am just curious what flashing the ecu actually is? I have never heard of this before, and what does it have to do with Mazda USA? I have been gone for a while so this is probably why im lost.

"Flashing the ECU" is reprogramming the engine control computer to get rid of the intermittent hesitation issue many MSP owners experience between about 2800 and 5000 RPM when warm. It's accomplished by the dealer using a software program sent to the dealer from Mazda USA. Check the sticky ECU thread for more details.

no, its not actually a recall. its not life threatening or anything. Its a TSB- technical service bulletin. They should change it per a customer request, free of charge.

If they don't, call Mazda USAs 800# and complain.

I was just there, they did not turn me down because I can't prove it...they turned me down because they cannot get their machine to flash the PCM properly. It gives an error and then the car won't start. BigGun22, is your buddies the car they're having problems with?

imprezu,

Like pdhaudio said: "its not actually a recall. its not life threatening or anything. Its a TSB- technical service bulletin."

TSB's cover everything from ECU reprograming (us), to diagram changes in your owners manual, to changes on repair procedures. The only difference between the TSB and a recall is that a recall is for something that could kill you if it didn't work or broke. They'd rather spend $50,000 fixing it than pay $2,000,000 in settlements (look at Ford and the tires on the Explorer... remember that fiasco???)

Check out the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website... I think it's www.nhtsa.dot.gov. You can search for recalls and TSB's by year make and model. If you don't do it, the dealer sure as hell wont. Check there and see if there is a TSB number yet.

Hope that explains it a bit and helps you get the flash.

No TSB listed yet - check the ECU thread on what Mazda is calling this but it's not a recall or TSB, technically (pates03, please check your capslock key there bud). There are only TSB's listed for roofrack crossbars (MP5), an engine rattle (2.0L engines, MP5 and es), and rear defroster gridline repairs.

Yup, Mazda will NOT release a TSB for it. I know, I work at the dealer.

Thanks for all the info, I am going to get in contact with my dealer to see if they have heard anything about this. I have not seen the dealers name on the list so far so I am hoping I will not have any problems. Thanks again.

Well, I ended up getting a call at 4PM today saying that they have fixed the problem. Went down there and while I was waiting I took an RX8 out for a test ride. Man, that car is NICE...

Anyway, got my car back and I no longer have hesitation or the clunk(they replaced my sway-bar bushings). It has more power too...instead of my friends 1.8T completely romping me, I was just bairly dragging behind. He had almost an empty take, I had above full.

would u guys suggest taking off my k&n filter? or they shouldnt give me s***? figured they might give me s*** because what their doing has to do with air mapping correct?

Just to claer this up... It is NOT a recall, it isnt even a TSB YET. It is so new that they haven't had time to actually write up, and Issue a writen TSB to the dealers. As it stands now, it is only an update with e-mail instructions to them. The official TSB is comming, but not yet. U can still get it done, it just isn't offical yet. Make sure that when u go u tell the dealer the file number, and that they WILL NEED to update their systems to the latest ODB programing software in order for their systems to be able to communicate the new flash to the ECU/PCM... I got this info from Mazda NA direct...
That is all...
Happy flashing!

Many of you don't even read the posts before yours prior to posting how many times do we have to cover the same info?
