I am considering paying off the last 3 grand on my car and selling it...

i want to get a volkswagen golf tdi(diesel)..

i used to own a 2001 tdi and i loved it...

i want to do a lot of mods and keep the car fairly reliable..
i know of many people who go 350k miles and its still going strong...
for $800 i can double the cars output ...
for about 2500 i can make crazy power.... and it will outrun any v8 in the 1/8 mile...
and still get 50mpg...

this car seems like a better choise for me b/c i drive a lot and i loved that car...

if i dont sell the mp3 i will be buying a crotch rocket in the spring...
i need to figure this out..

Chris---- you know my position on the matter.

Dont be dumb, keep the limited production mp3:p . Spend the money on it and you will have unique power as opposed to the tdi where you will just have power.

Plus the mp3 will hold its value better anyways.

Plus you may want a new car later on so the argument about the tdi engine taking 300K miles doesnt hold up either.

MOD YOUR PROTEGE, SHOW HER YOU LOVE HER!

a TDI Golf?

doubling the cars output for $800? i could definately see you increasing the power by around 30% for that amount of green.

i just don't think the car will be that reliable with gigantic power increases you were talking about when you said you would be outrunning any/all V-8's in the 1/8 mile? all the while getting 50MPG...thats a bit optimistic. and having a car run for 350.000 miles with an upgraded turbo like that would be putting so much more stress on the engine/transmission/drivetrain, ect.

if you loved your old car so much...why did you sell it? if you want to keep the reliability and the mileage...just made a couple subtle changes. then you can run stronger and efficiently.

I know you have a 1.8T, but how much do you really know about modding the TDI engine? It's not easy to get a lot of hp out of them, but they make up for it with MASSIVE torque. The Upsolute chip only costs about $350 & it dynos at 130hp/250lb-ft. With $800 to spend, I think he could definately have a quick car!

Check out www.tdiclub.com for everything you ever wanted to know about the TDI.
