Ok, so last night (after almost 2 weeks at the dealer) I FINALLY got my car back (sent it in for what I thought were the synchros).
I spoke to the mechanic and he told me that he...
-replaced almost every gear
-replaced the synchros with CF synchros!
-put in my ACT organic clutch
-put in my fidanza flywheel
-put in my mazda competiton front motor mount (the one near the tranny)
Let me just say, I LOVE my car. The new clutch is still breaking in, but has a nice bite to it...engages better than my stock clutch (which is still in good shape if anyone wants one!). It now actually HANDLES better as well. At first I was confused as to why, but I realized that I used to get a little bit of wheel hop around hard corners (from the OEM mount having too much give) and it doesn't do that any more. It's also better off the line, even though I haven't really given it gas from a stop as of yet.
The flywheel is nice too...makes the car feel different. I'm not really sure if it actually feels faster or anything (doesn't really seem to), but it's just kind of different. Between the 9lb flywheel and the poly mounts, the starts are definitely smoother.
So far, I'm impressed with everything overall. The only "problems" I have as of right now is that my idle is a lot rougher from the poly mount...but not TOO rough. It's tolerable to me, and I'm picky. But maybe I'll eat my words this winter (rattle rattle).
The other "problem" as of right now is that when I downshift, the clutch chatters a little bit. I'm chalking this up to "it's not broken in yet". Let's hope I'm right.
