I knew it would happen

Well I put my Racing Harts on about 3 weeks ago when the temps went up to 70 degrees in Madison, WI. I just couldn't handle the steel rims anymore. I haven't had any issues with weather until today. Yeah, its gotten to the 30s, but no real snow.

Today was interesting, it started off at 34 degrees with rain and drizzle. The trees at my work were covered in ice. It was very fun to go out on break and shake them off with my coworkers and watch thousands of ice shards fall off. By 2:00, our storm tracking software that we have on the web (its part of what we do) indicated some ice headed towards our location. Sure enough, the ice arrived within the minute of what our software predicted.

After ice pellets fell for about two hours, it was time to go home. There was a half inch of slushy to sheet-like ice in the parking lot and on the roads. After reading what every body has said about the Dunlops in winter I was preparing myself for death.

Maybe its just the fact that I live in bad Wisconsin and am used to driving in the winter, but it just wasn't too bad. And after I stopped for one errand it began snowing. So we had a half inch of ice on the ground and then a quarter inch of snow on top of that. Basically some of the worst conditions you can ask for. Obviously I had to start from second and make sure I didnt give it too much, but it just didn't seem that bad.

I would never leave the Racing Harts on in winter because thats just dumb. Also, while I was doing fine, my radials are noticably better. I was just happy it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be :).

I bought my car a few weeks ago and the second day I had it we got smacked with snow. Driving in that car was the scariest thing I've ever done. I feel your pain bro...

one time it snowed when i was at my friends house. i drove the normally 15 min drive in an hour because i had my racing harts/potenzas on. i drove like 5mph with my hazzards on and i was scared shitless i was either gonna skid mad or someone was going to rear end me or some s***. luckily, it was like 2AM so hardly anyone was out. but damn....

and now thers snow on the ground again. in april. grrr...but my cars in the shop so i guess thats kinda good...:shrugs:

Haha, yeah I tried to drive to work today, and there is already like 2inches of snow on the ground (supposed to get 3 or 4). I got stuck on a hill and managed to turn around and go home so my GF could drive me :).

FOrget that, damn thing is going in the wrong direction. Getting colder then hotter. IF we allow this to continue the entire earth will be frozen faster then when it was going to boil.

Everyone remove your cats and use only arezol products. LET WARM THIS BIATCH UP! :D

WaHoo

I just bought 4 more factory Racing Harts because of our wonderful weather here. I put Michelin Alpines on the original rims (215-45-17, Excellent traction!) because I couldn't get up my driveway when I brought her home. I put the original tires on the X-tra rims for summer. (4 whls and ctr caps $1,400; They did come w/ chrm vlv stems however). Save yourself some money-xfer the ctr caps for winter and summer- $63.00 each. Its nice having instant b/u rims in case of the infamous potholes here.

88 1.6L 323GT Turbo
99 1.8L Prot ES and NOW

#1244 (mspo) (boobs)

PS: For the Zoom Clunk Update, They are Polyurethane with grease fittings. Summit Racing # ENS-9-5157G (Akron/ Talmadge, Ohio) 3 weeks and still no clunk. This may help all of you MP3 peoples!!!

I had planned on taking off the snow tires last weekend, except it was too damn cold out.

Good thing, because of the snow.

The Dunlops should be OK on ice, because on ice you want more rubber on the ice (simple Physics). But when there is snow on the ground they don't have good traction because the tire sits on top of the snow like snow shoes and can't get tranction on the ground.

Snow tires accel in snow, but all tires suck on ice (Unless they are studded)

Maybe I will take the snow tires off this weekend.

Tim,
I can't imagine we'll get much more winter around here. Its supposed to hit the 60s again and will probably melt the new snow by the end of the weekend :).

Spring/Winter ---> "?"

DooMer_MP3,

The spring weather here was pretty bad, but hopefully things will clear up in a few days. I am going home, Appleton, WI this weekend to get my RH rims.

I am ready for some sunshine and 70 degree weather!

Well being that I work for a weather company, I can tell you that our long range models are looking for a nice warmup. I usually take long range models with a grain of salt, but each day, the model remains relatively unchanged, indicating that it will probably be pretty accurate :).

I think this past weekend was winter's last "**** you" :D.

good on ice ha ha ah aha thats funny

Another useful brokemp3 post . No, not "good". In fact nobody said that. I believe trobbins used the word "OK". And yes, the RHs are OK on ice. And if not, can you tell me why I had a lot less problems driving on glaze ice that we had friday than I did with 3 inches of snow on the ground?

Chris

Hey 905MP3, did I see you in the parking lot in front of Kohl's foods / Old Navy a few days ago?

Otherwise I saw someone else's MP3.

Tim

trobbins,

You mean on the west side about 2 weeks ago? I think that may be me. I was at old navy a few weeks ago.

Who drives the MP3 that is always coming towards Madison on hwy 94 at about 5:00 to 6:00 every day?
