Thats right. I just saw Kevin(and the Cox Racing team) in Greensboro, at TurboTune, with a brand spankin new SRT4 on the dyno.

For those of you who dont know he is, he owns the SRT4 Red Sled.... fastest street srt4 in the country(9.8 @144 or something at Indy this year) He just picked up a BRAND NEW Caliber SRT4 in Florida and was driving it back to Jersey... stopped at the shop three blocks from my store and got his first dyno....

272hp...265trq...OMG(fight) Can you say underrated by the factory....again?

I got to talk to him for about a hour... his guys were already picking the car over on the dyno, tweaking stuff. It was pretty awesome. ...friendly guy.
The caliber actually looked decent in person, although I only saw it in the garage.

My car did 253/282 on this dyno about a month ago with the setup in my sig, btw.

I was in the shop this afternoon setting up dyno time for mine and Derek88's car on Thursday, talking over the new fuel pump Ive got:).... when Mark Riley, the tuner there, invites me back to watch this tonight. I just thought it was a new Caliber Srt4 and that was enough to bring me back... well what a surprise who the damn car belonged to.

Apparently Mark, gets flown to all the races to tune the red sled.... not a bad guy to be doin work on my car, but dang I got a lot of work to do after watching some of the videos online of a 9sec neon.

anyway...thought Id share. I thought it was awful cool to stumble into this tonight. Im still stoked.

He runs 9's with 272hp? sounds like some garbage to me

Dude his NEON srt4 runs nines(google red sled srt4)... he had JUST picked up one of the first Caliber srt4s avaible nationally and he had it on the dyno for the first time tonight. He hadnt had it 24 hrs yet, and it still had the temporary tags on....I wish I had pics dammit.

This may have been one of the first actual dynos of a stock Caliber srt in the country.... not done in a magazine test. Thats what made it interesting.

it traps more than the ms3 from the factory. So if you ran each car with same slick setup the srt should win. Nice dyno numbers but the car is ugly in the rear. I think the front looks ok

I wouldnt trade my car for it... no way. And it didnt sound all that good either, stock. Back end does look strange with all the fins at the bottom. The car looks smaller in person than it comes across in the mag pictures. Interior is nice too. Interior is probably what surprised me the most. of course it was dark..lol.

I mostly posted this because of the newness of it and the fact that I got home and was like red sled who and kevin van what who. A couple google searches and I wanted to drive back down there. Those guys were already tearing the engine up and tuning. They are going to be building a standback immediately, sponsored by AEM. I would have stayed all night, except tonight was Christmas picture night and the family was waiting for daddy. Ah the compromises we make to be a good father and husband dammit.

BTW... the christmas pictures turned out great. PM to see my wife, and 4 little girl buddies...lol I guess I made the right decision.

sweet i hate the caliber srt 4 and the neon one too but its cool that you got to see it dyno'd. but pics woulda been amazing.

wait just realized something hes an idiot he hasnt even borken it in yet and hes pounding it on the dyno!?!? thats a BAD idea.

He drove it at least as far as from Florida to NC....thats a break in I guess if you think cars like this even really need it. He probably got some preorder from a big dealer down there or something. I didnt ask. I didnt know these were even available yet.

What was the official release date anyway?

all engines need to be broken in. Thats not bad though i thought he did it in Fl where he bought it.

! dont agree. All good engine builders recommend breaking it in on the dyno. I put mine on the dyno with 300miles and it makes more power than 90% of the ms3 community. I also dynoed my srt bone stock and it was faster than 90% of the srt community stock. I say put three heat cycles on it and then rip it up.

cool, is there a link to his results? what kind of dyno etc etc...

No link. Its a dynojet. By the time I got there theyd already been working on it... theyd gotten even higher. They had all sorts of diagnostics hooked up... and Kevin was already complaining about throttle dropping as rpms rose...lol.

I'll get more details tomorrow when I go back and talk to the guys from the shop. Kevin owns and drives the cars(i think?) but he had three guys in working and tuning while he was out talking to me and another guy.

I might add... I never actually saw the dyno chart. I was just going off of numbers quoted to me. But I have no reason to doubt it. The guy was very forthcoming. I'll try to get a look/copy tomorrow.

He's not the 1st to dyno the csrt ...darrell cox just dynoed his and got about the same results. streefire did to but used 89 octane and got low results..also there is a vid on the caliberforums site showing modern performance's csrt beating a modded vw gti. The thing is going to be a little beast!

very cool info and very cool that you were there to see them at work...

the haters and fanboys need to stfu and get over the fact that the srt appears to have more hp and tq outa the box... oh well

Awesome. Now that the SRT team has improved the handling significantly over the neon srt4, this car is much more interesting.

That stock level of power and improved handling helps explain how the CSRT slaughtered the MS3 Nurburgring time.

I'll reserve judgement until I see them on the road, and check out the interior.

The hot hatch segment is damn fun these days.

Prepare to be dethroned my friends.

I don't know about being dethroned but the car looks promising..the ms3 will most likely hold it's own but time will tell.

Standard Mopar fare. Ugly exterior, ugly uncomfortable shoddy interior, questionable build quality, but amazing motor. So far, the only Mopar product to come out in the past 20 years to even hold my interest for more than five seconds is the Viper, but that is based on the raw, unmittigated, kick your ass in the head power factor.

Based on the looks/noise/numbers factor, the SRT devision stopped being cars long ago. Now they are four wheeled penis extensions (i.e. SRT-8 and SRT-10s)
