i installed a turbo x's DP on another members MS3 last night

I installed a turbo x's full down pipe on another member on here's car last night. We're going to post a full how-to soon but i just want to let everyone know the gist of things. first i have to say turbo x's are ******* awesome for the way they designed the top of the DP. they put to small slots on each side to make it alot easier to tighten the bolts at the turbo flange. most people may not relize thats why those things are there but coming from a installer for the last nine years i can tell you thats why they're there and it made my life 1,000 times easier to install it. Removing the stock DP is a pain and you have to have patients but it took me about 2 hours to remove the stock DP heat shields and all and install the turbo x's DP and have the car running. unfortunitly for the owner he is now a member as i found out when i removed the intercooler that he's a member of the bad turbo club his car was a 07' GT.

and of course BOTH 02 sensor were screwed in wrong and were a b**** to get out. use lots of penatrating oil best stuff would be PB blast or something like it but BE CAREFUL not to get it into the sensor itself or you'll screw it up. We're going to post a full how-to and write soon but all in all i have to say turbo x's craftmen ship was great and fit-met was almost perfect just make sure to have the spacer plate. We'll post the other stuff soon just wanted to give a alitte insight into how things worked out. wish i was installing it on my car but that'll be later and i don't mind helping people out.

i work at a mazda dealer and just had a talk with one of the master techs here about the O2 sensor problems. basicly what he's sayin is that moisture is getting into the sensor if you look at it at the little dish thingy with holes in it and when you goto remove it thats whats screwing everything up. don't know if thats whats cause is but thats his opinion but either way you're goiing to run into a problem when you goto remove it. Basicly what you need to do is get some really realy good penatrating oil. i used PB blast last night but i have this other stuff i get from a chemical guy that comes around i'll post the name of the stuff but you can't buy it at any local parts store this is special stuff and the guy that comes around my shop is the only one that sells it so if anyone else is interested and i get it for them also just for the cost of the can. PB blast works well but i wish i had the other stuff last night cause it makes PB blast look like WD40 and water. but just soak the sensor careful not to get it into the sensor and take your time going back and forth removing it and it should come out with minumal damage. DON"T FORCE IT it it feels stuck or you'll screw up the sensor

Can't wait for the how too...does it have pictures? Also, get the name of that stuff you use. There is this type of oil that a buddy of mine bought at the last gun show, and I'm thinking about picking some up. It made PB Blaster look like compressed air. If its the same stuff, then I'm gonna go buy a can.

How do you know his turbo is bad? Mine wont hold boost for s*** and Im starting to wonder. Still pulls decent though

I cant wait to get my CS DP in with my PB manifold... i will definitely be looking at the write up before install... So, thanks in advance!!

Well it's my car that the dp went onto and I can tell you it is a shitload of blueish-white smoke. Also there was a ton of oil in the intercooler and asscoiated (sp) parts. As for sound clips, I will hopefully have them soon

my intercooler was full of oil too but only on the intake mani. side. I looked in the turbo and other side of the inter. and nothing

How much oil was your car using?

Does anybody know if anybody is close to determining a range of VINs for the bad turbos?

When does yours start to smoke? Mine will only do it after idling for a little while, then the exhaust fumes start to smell like oil.

Did you check your oil levels? When the car is off and the engine is cold I would check and see if it's low, that's a good sign there could be a leak from the turbo seals. Also, depending on if you have an exhaust or a downpipe that could be another possibility. No cat or High flow cats both are a lot less restrictive then a stock cat obviously. I get a lot of white smoke in the morning or when it's very cold outside, but once the cat warms up it's fine. When I had white smoke when I first put the full turboback on I had Mazda pull my downpipe and check my seals to make sure all was well. Not only did they check to make sure the turbo was properly running they also reinstalled my downpipe to make sure it was installed correctly for free. (upbum)

I really cant wait to get my Turbo XS TBE installed. Im so excited. So wanting to see if my turbo is bad just for the sake of knowing. It will suck if it is.

well it smokes horrible and it's blueish in color. a bad turbo at first will hold boost fine just smoke alot from the oil leaking into the turbo. thats why for now his boosts fine and so does yours driver311. all turbo cars are going to have some oil in the piping and stuff but i've been doing this for 9 years now and i can tell how much is way too much. also a good way is check your DP if your NOT running any cat. converters and see if there's any oil resadue in there thats another tell sign. i work at a mazda dealer as a tech and i've seen enough of them to know when a turbo needs replacement. i just had a CX-7 in the other day that has a bad turbo and needs a new unit. we're going to post stuff asap. i was rushing to get it done cause i had a doctors appointment to goto so like i said it only took me from start to finish about 2 1/2 hours.

DRiver311 you like me are a srt4 guys. my friends srt4 i put a 50 trim on. don't know why but he's on his third turbo we keep having to send them back to AGP for replacement of seals gone bad and everytime they don't know why and keeps saying it's nothing we're doing wrong but his cars right before we removed the turbo for the fourth time to have it sent out was boosting fine no porblems just smoked horrible when driving. the MS3 i installed the DP on the other night had massive amounts of oil everywhere even the BOV outlet was coated in oil thats not a good sign. there should only be alittle oil in the I/C and i/c piping if your not running a catch can. Plus his car had just a test pipe on it before and it was smoking blueish smoke now it just smokes worse with no filter on the exhaust so to say.

Car pulls really nice and hard. exhaust sounds nice to for just a full DP and stock DP back exhaust with the mufflers removed. really sounds beastly to me. i hear alot of people down turbo x's on here for some reason in favor of CP-E or something. look bottom line is turbo x's design for making it easier to install the bolts at the flange sold me coming from a installers point of view. but bottom line is CP-E turbo x's are basicly the same damn thing. a 3" down pipe is a 3" down pipe. the only thing that sets companies apart is the design of the inlet for the DP the part that bolts to the turbo thats it thats what will make or brake a DP when it comes to performance and boost creap. Corksport is nice because they kept the two cambers seperate which supposely makes better performance and is also better becuase you don't have the chance of the two gases slaming into each other and cause turbulance. so i'm thinking about buying theres just to see whats it's like but if the ports aren't big enough and the waste gate can't flow good them your going to get boost creep which is a night mare and a half.

i know from plenty of DSM's and 4G63's motors i've done turbo upgrades and exhaust upgrades to and they boost creep horrible and then that brand new upgraded turbo you just installed has to come out and be sent out to have the WG housing ported a bigger WG flapper installed and port out the O2 housing and if thats still not enough you have to put a small cat converter or something to slow the turbo down. i've been doing this long enough i;'ve seen it all. just don't bash a product for the people on here that bash turbo x's unless you've had first hand bad experience with it then yes i understand you have the right to complain about it.

I just got rid of the cats about 1000 k ago. I've been monitering my oil levels, consumption has not been crazy. The oil smell only comes after the car has been in boost than sits and idles for a bit. It has been very cold here as well.
So did Mazda tell you the small amount of smoke is ok; were your seals deemed to be fine?
I wonder if my car always was doing this with the cats masking it.
