Everytime im trying to start my car I have to have the clutch pressed in as hard as i can t...and itll start. When its running I have no problems shifting gears and the clutch feels normal...could it be some sensor going out?

Thanks

Yup, that little switch mounted above the pedal (the one closest the front of the car) is going bad.

Hm any idea how much those go for? Or is there a way to bypass that switch completely?

No idea, find the part number in the parts manual and look it up on onlinemazdaparts.com or get it from Mazmart, they prolly have a few.

You can temporarily bypass it by disconnecting it and shorting the contacts in the connector. I think it'll trip the CEL (that switch is monitored), so you should just get a new switch...

Don't buy a new one yet! I had the same EXACT problem. My remedy was a little piece of electrical tape one a little piece of paper underneath it. Works PERFECTLY now. You only need to make it about 1mm thick. Try this first, would hate to see you waste money on it if you don't need it. Good luck.

what do you mean? underneath where?

Ok here are the pictures to show you, sorry it took longer than what I said:

Ok, following your clutch pedal up

You will see the white switch that is pushed when you push the clutch pedal.

You want to add the thickness here. I took a little piece of toilet paper, preferably unused, and wrap some electrical tape around it, towards the side of the plastic piece.

I used to have the same exact problem as you did, after I did this was 1000x better. Good luck.

@ andrei: When you have time, I would suggest removing the switch and cleaning it out. Most likely the contacts are dirty, or some gunk build up in there. It's amazing how much dust and dirt collects in that linkage.

IMHO the above post is a short term fix, you might want to use something like hard plastic if you go that route. (No offence to Th3_Gr33k) :p But good on ya for the pics!

The reason why I had to do that is was because of my pedals, They hindered movement by a 1mm or 2 and so I couldn't get it to that one point where it hit. Let me mind you that these pedals are also 7 years old. I bought them shortly after buying the car brand new. But yes I do agree about cleaning under there is it filthy. Lol I didn't even realize it until after I took the pictures.

oh yea man it works great! instead i used a thin square piece of plasticiin used eletrical tape to go around the pedal thing a couple times and it works perfect now man..thanks a lot for the suggestion
rockerPoro5: i took the swithc out and it didnt look like there was any way to take it apart so i just did what i mentioned above
