I have the msp from hell

Not necessarily true. When my motor popped I was only making 1-2 lbs. With a peak of roughly 7.5-8 psi.

WHOA!! that makes me wanna rebuild right away. How long have you been boosting 7-8 psi before you blew? Are you an original owner?

I boosted 7-8 w/ twiggy cams and exhaust for about 3K miles. The car only has 65K miles on it. The PO (bought it new) drove it about 45K stock and then started turning up the boost. He did a FMIC, 3" exhaust, the cams, microtech standalone, injectors, ect... and ran it at 12-14 psi before parting it and selling the car. He added some wear and tear for sure, but the motor was healthy when I bought it.

i guess they can be titled minor issues but all of these minor issues have added up to cost more than i payed for the car originally! its just really hard to push my car and drive spiritedly when im afraid of something going wrong and digging a deeper whole in my pocket. (not to mention all of these repairs have come in about a 14 month period) it just turns a 30 min highway trip to the shore into an event where i hold my breath everytime i pass or hit a pothole. i cant wait to get it all cleaned up in order to put a fmic ssafc and prob highflowcat to make some more power =)

Weren't you also chugging up an on ramp when you decided to speed up because you felt someone was too close to you? Your motor was on borrowed time if it popped at only 1-2 psi.

I believe my engine failure was mostly due to the stock tune. At low boost and 2800 rpm its too lean. The ramp is pretty long and has a 4-5% grade. I think it was lean and too hot so something had to give. If I had been higher in the rev range or giving it more throttle it would have had enough fuel and probably would've been (and still would be) fine. So the lesson here is get a wideband and make sure you always have enough fuel.

and how much fatique did running at that high of boost more then likely put on the rods for failure down the road?

yeah the stock tune is complete crap no one will argue that with you. The high stress load is what more then likely killed the rods. Several people have blown their "built" motors pulling into a drive way. Its not so much what your doing when it goes but what you have done before it goes.

I think that you blew the engine bc the previous owner had been running 12-14 psi. Don't matter how many bolt ons he had. I have basically every bolt on you can do besides upgraded turbo, and i'm scared to go past 10 psi

Steel fatigues, but it doesn't spontaneously fail. Even weakened metal takes a fair amount of punishment before breaking. Abused or not, it was the lean area of the stock map that killed me.

if a friend asked my opinion on these cars, i would tell him never to buy one. they aren't reliable at all wether abused or not. its a money pit that will never break 13s... for the most part i know some have!

You aren't alone, I've had all the same problems except for the roof dents. Bottoms up!

this time i dont have my msp bc i headed into redbank for fireworks (any jersey msp owners?) and i took parents minivan because i didnt wanna deal with three pedals in stop and go traffic. i go to start the car on the way home and the key wont turn at all. wont budge my thumb now has a blister. i tried everything turning the stearingwheel messing with the gear selector rocking the car back and forth. nothing

just my car luck!
