I hate whoever owned my car last.

One time I went to NTB back in the day. They torqued my lug nut key so much it ripped off all the little parts for the lock. So they had to use some type of fitting that went on the air wrench and place it on the lock. THey kep spinning it and spinning it generating heat which somehow pulled off each of the locks. THey were destroyed after that, but they got them off w/o a locksmith. Oh and they gave me a new set for free as well :D

Did your wheel locks have an actual key that was inserted into them? Like a house key, or the ignition key?
I answered that question..........so dont get pissy with me for giving you an answer.

Cool, I did not know that such a material existed. Must be some kind of quick drying epoxy putty.

That's just a tapered socket that fits over the outside of the wheel lock. . Another easy way to remove wheel locks is to use a 12 point socket and beat it on over the lock. Works great. Got many a lock off that way...

Are you sure you looked everywhere in your trunk. I keep my key in with the jack. It's not under the tire, it's in the small compartment to the right under the plastic covering. You probably allready looked, but sometimes we all miss the obvious.

Well, seeing as how there is no actual lock "mechanism" on a wheel lock, it technically would not be "picking" the lock, now would it. Did your wheel locks have an actual key that was inserted into them? Like a house key, or the ignition key? More than likely, NO. So, while a locksmith may have gotten them off for you, the locks weren't "picked". At least not in the tradiditional manner. Which actually requires the use of, well, picks. My question doesn't seem so odd, now, does it?
I think he was just generalizing with the usage of the word "pick" Man, you are ANAL!

When I got my car the wheel lock key was in a plastic bag along with the 4 lugs they replaced with locks.

When I bent my key because my lugs were overtorqued I just looked for the thing I received that had the code or whatever for the lock key, called the company that made the wheel lock and ordered 2 more keys.

My Ex brother-in-law had a socket from SNAP ON tools that was like a large socket with 4 blades on the inside. He took a hammer and tapped it on over the outside of the locks and then used a large ratchet to remove them. It was cool it went faster than me taking them off with a lug wrench and a key.

No he did not "pick" them I won't use that term lest SIDPRO5 s*** his pants with fury! IT'S NOT PICK! Uh Oh dropped a batch.

I started to tell them where the key was, and he told me not to worry about it since they have the universal one.
There's actually no "universal" key - they just have copies of all of them at the dealership - why I know this? My car had no key when I bought it so I had to take it back to the dealer. They were very apologetic and actually gave me a copy of the key for my car's wheels from one of the mechanic's tool kits.

when i was painting my calipers i forgot to tighten my last wheel lock..needless to say, that wheel lock fell off somewhere in this city. do you guys know if mazda sells wheel locks individually?

HAHA! You a funny mutha fugger! No fury, man. I asked him a question, he was sarcastic in his answer. We went back and forth a little, got over it. I suggest you do the same. It's all in good fun man. Just don't want to see anyone misled. Ya know, noobs like me.

Nope, have to buy a set of 4...costs like 35 bucks. I broke one of mine and they said that since it was not done at a professional shop that it would not be covered under warranty and that I would have to buy a set of new ones. Pissed me off because it was not even torqued to 40 ft-lbs before it broke.

I would hit up some of the guys who put on new wheels.....maybe they still have theirs and dont want/need em.........worth a try.

you quoted me....so i assumed the issue was with me...but my bad (thumb)
Ah, you were the one who "dumbed down" the operation of the locks/keys. The avatars must've had me all confused. Eh, my bad, your bad, whatever. Truce? (drinks)

worse place to leave a lock bolt - car, why????

One morning i went outside to go to work and there i saw my roomates brand new 2001 GSR sitting on the spare and a jack. No wheels! Basically they picked the car door and popped the trunk and took the wheels free and clean. The tow truck did more damage than the thieves!!!

You know I did that very smae thing. I have one missing as well. (laugh)

If you have access to some machining and welding equipment you can make a semi-universal wheel lock buster. I've seen one used at a tire shop here in So. Fla. to screw off wheel locks from a guy's car with your same problem.
