Well the title might give you a little insight. This is my first post and its not a happy one. I was driving down a street and a car pulled out infront of me, hesitated, and slammed his brakes. I had to slam my brakes and threw my car into a left turn. I slammed into the curb on the ally i turned into and the guy took off.
This is what i was left with.

The whole outer lip of the rim was crushed, the rotor was broken in 2 pieces.I had the car towed to my autoshop at school so once i come back from having the flu i can take the wheel off and see what other damage there might me.

Im guessing ill need a strut assembly, new rotor, and wheel hub assembly.

What do you guys think? also what are the best companys to buy the parts from? Im not looking for any high performance stuff, just inexpensive oem quality parts.

THANKS!

did ti done it. curbs arent fun

I had gotten cutoff in the rain. bam smacked the curb on the west side highway

had to have ti towed. body shop had to fix about $2500 if not more.

Lower control arm
rim
tire
strut
this that and hte other thing. it all added up

Rockauto.com very good prices, at door in 2 days or less.

I'm a little curious how it cracked the rotor.
Keep in mind if you have to replace the strut, you'll want to replace the other side too. Chance are if they're original, they're shot anyway.
Rockauto has the front KYBs for only $55.

Ask Ken over at Protege Garage to hook you up with some good parts for a good price :) He will help you with what you need.

That is were my rotor cracked, all the way around, perfectly clean! I was amazed. I took a random pic off google to show you where the damage was.

Im in advanced automotive at my school, so I will be doing all the work and storing my car there during this process. I will take pics and post em' up here to show you any further damage.
The car is completely stock, so I will be replacing both struts....Unless I want that authentic gangster lean! Maybe ill throw on a turbo system using a coffee can and handheld fan. Maybe even hydraulics!

My dad was planning on buying me a project car, now he said happy birthday! Heres your project! FIX WHAT YOU BROKE!
hahahah

Thanks for the help guys! ill keep you posted

I took the wheel off. The rotor came completely off in 2 separate pieces. My teacher said ill need to replace the strut, control arms, and spindles. Were going to take out the hub assembly tomorrow and look for any further damage

Man that totally sucks. Makes me not feel as bad about my damaged bumper. Those rotor pics are amazing. I can't believe how clean that crack is. Good luck on a speedy recovery!

It's so sad when people just take off after they cause an accident. My only car accident was caused by another motorist who didn't get hit. He didn't even stop to help. I've also been hit 3 times commuting on my bicycle. Always the drivers fault. All hit and runs. People are such jerks sometimes.

Ya people are butt holes. I took apart the steering arm today, along with the bolts that hold the assembly up in place. On monday i will use a tool to pull off the hub assembly and see how jacked the bearings are. Im probably gonna have to get a new lower A arm, strut, rim, rotor, and all that fun stuff

Does anyone suggest a company to buy rotors from. Of course they have the cheap 20$ ones. I was thinking of the standard EBC rotors

What do you think?

I'm still trying to get over the fact that the rotor is in 2 pieces. Are those original rotors?

I have all my parts! My steering knuckel was cracked, so i got a new one, had the hub and new bearings pressed in. New lower control arm, new prostop rotor, and semi-metallic brake pads. NOW HOW DO I PUT IT TOGETHER!

ANYONE WITH EXPERIENCE REPLACING LOWER CONTROL ARMS PLEASE HELP!

i've replaced it....easy actually.....struts are harder.....and since you have everything off it will be even easier....there are just 2 bolts that hold the control arm to the frame and the one to the knuckle....

and use a jack to press the arm back onto the knuckle after you get everything back on, including the struts

the strut is still on. the lower control arm is giving me trouble, it seels like its 2 cm too small! hahaa if i put it on the single bolt, it doesnt reach to the bracket, and vice versa. My teacher thinks i might have bent the brackets that hold it on, do you see this being a possibility? I mean I did manage to crack a rotor and STEERING KNUCKLE

are you talking about putting it back on?? if so that's the same thing i thought when i did mine....but i put a jack under it and 'pressed' it on at the knuckle.

or are you talking about something else

Im talking about placing the lower control arm back into its 2 connecting points. it doesnt seem to want to go in. The steering knuckle, and hub is removed. Which should i put on first?

it's not lining up on the 2 points to the frame.....you might have knocked the bracket then....do you still have the other one...you might be able to compare the 2 and tell off the bat

i have the other one, besides being dirty, they are pretty much identical. Im taking them both to school for my teacher to examine and tell me a verdict.

If its bent, does anyone know the part number, or name of that bracket on the left side?
