Picked it up last night, $1100 '86 GXL, body is in great shape, all the electronic gadgets are working strong, even has the original windshield with that little antenae built in. Motor is limping along on one rotor, but I was able to drive it the 65 or so miles home. Interior is very sound, only minor wear on the bolstering and mats, needs a new shift knob, but otherwise it is pretty nice. I am trying to take some pictures as soon as I find the battery charger. I'll keep you guys up to date as I put in a fully working motor and then start to build the existing motor into something nice. I'll probably be asking a lot of questions, this is my first rotory. I was looking at another thread and the guy was smelling fumes, it was mentioned about the dampener, the guy I bought this from replaced that with a bolt, he said that is the standard fix for that unless you are turbo, any ideas on that?

Here are the pictures from the craigs list ad I bought it from. The paint is a little less than pictured, there are fade spots on the roof and hood, other than those thoguh the exterior is pristine, minus two barely there dings, for the year.

wholey s*** that car is in great shape.. Unbelieveable what 7 hours south will do for rust/paint resistance...
 
looks very nice - do you plan on doing the engine swap yourself? have you figured out how much it's going to cost?

Yeah me and the gang down here will be doing the work. I am not sure of prices at the moment, still doing a lot of research on it. I was weighing out the difference in price compared to condition. I was figuring I could spent near the same amount on a decent running one with a horrible body, or one in good condition that needed motor work. Well being as I am good with motor work and crap with body work so I decided to go this route. Hell I have a RB25 lined up for fairly cheap, that would make this thing rocket, but I am looking at a different route for that, besides I really want to get into rotories. The goal is to be in a FD in the future. I am going to go the most economical route to put in a running block and learn more about it, while slowly building up the engine I am gonna pull out that is in there now. I still have to decide what class I want to run, I am gonna run it stock of course at first.
 
Did you check on those lights I asked about?

Dude you asked me about the lights at like 10:30 last night, I'll be sure to check them when I get home from work today. I have a job Mr. Mom. J/K with ya bra, I will check them and I believe they are working, the kid seemed to be very picky about the car, he was a little misty when signing the papers and his mom comforted him with the statement that he'll find another one. He was really nice, and talkative, Eric you'd have loved him. But he knew his s*** about these cars, years beyond myself, i am still trying to figure out what this rotor thing is eveybody is talking about. I mean I checked the brakes and it has four rotors, they all seemed fine, housings and all. Gabi likes it ok, I mean she didn't really see the need for another car, let alone not running, but she knew I wanted it to race with so she gave me the green light and the money. She's a sweetheart ain't she? So anyways....

it needs forged pistons and rods!

The car looks good, hopefully one day i'll own one in white
