I got hit

Sorry that happened. Glad you aren't hurt. Now the obvious, stupid question: Why did you bump your own thread about getting hit?

is it bad to bump your own own thread about getting hit?
i just wanted to get more people's opinions thoughts etc, and most importantly help with finding a body shop

like Chuyler pointed out, you're lucky. Why? Because w/no wheel, she couldn't flee the scene. Though I'm willing to bet she tried for a few feet.

I guess SUV's are really jealous of our fuel efficiency, eh?

Dude, don't be too surprised if it's totalled. The quarter panel is a welded-in piece. So, cut that out, purchase a new one, weld that in, re-skin both? left doors, plus both bumpers, plus prep and paint? That's going to be one HELL of a body shop bill.

Her insurance may just pay you for the car.

Good luck with all of that. Sorry to hear about your car.

we shall hope it won't happend. but if it does i am getting another p5 or an msp

front door is untouched although it has some scraches from before that i am hoping will be taken care of i don't know what the bill will be but damn i will be sad if it gets totalled. Then i will cry and be REALLY pissed at that girl
but if i have to get a new car it will be a mazda, that i am certain of.

For now i am hoping i will get to keep her

so do i.... do you know of any really good shops around?

No, but you might want to post a new entry on NEPOC asking for shop recommendations. I will ask around at work, if anyone mentions a good shop, I'll post here, but I don't have much hopes for that.

At least she took responsibility for her actions...but then again she didn't exactly have a choice when her CRV was missing a wheel. I like that feature...all cars should have it. If you get in an accident your wheels fall off.

Well, she should not have done other things (like changing CD or talking on cell) at all while she was driving on the road if she is the kind of person who take responsiblity for her actions. There are plenty of times to do such things like when you are stopped on traffic light (although I wouldn't recommend it either).

.. I doubt that they'll total the car. Unless there's some kinda frame damage done that hasn't been discovered yet, and depending on the price of the repairs to the rear driver's side door -- I don't see the insurance company paying for his P5.

My accident was fairly similar to this. I got nailed in my driver's side rear quarter panel, save that my bumper and rear lip were also shredded (whereas tyusha's rear driver's side door was hit). Figuring that my bumper and rear lip are sorta-even with tyusha's door .. my total repair costs from an excellent body shop with known higher prices (gotta pay if you want it done right!) were just over $4,000.

So I don't see the insurance company totaling his P5 when the repairs won't come close to the value of the car itself. My bet is that you'll be having your baby fixed, tyusha.

But that's just my two cents. :)

Sorry to hear about the damage, but I just had to commend you on the above statement. Hell yeah, zoom-zoom for life!

I agree. Insurance companies don't like to write off total.
Just check my signature. My left rear quarter panel was also damaged alright. The cargo bed was even bent to the point that the shop needed to cut it out, then ordered a fresh new rear cargo bed part from Mazda, cut out the part they needed and wield it back to the hole. The whole repair cost $9K and they still don't want to write it off total.

well here is a small update

I found a body shop. It was recommended to me by a couple of my co-workers. The best part is that it is 5 min walking from my job so i will be able to trace the progress.
The body shop was nice and i am bringing my car over there tomorrow.
i will keep this thread updated with the info, and will try to write a review of the body shop.

wow... sorry to hear that man... the streets around there are narrow as s*** and people drive like crazy mofo's specially if she was a local and not a student... good luck with gettin it fixed, good find with the body shop

sorry to hear that man. Hope all goes well and you don't get screwed over by the stealsurance.
(i just read the thread and didn't read the whole thing. let me fast forward to page 4 and see what went on...)

another update:

I left the car at the shop today. The chicks insurance is dicking around. They opened the claim but "did not accept liability and have to investigate further" like there is something to investigate...
The shop seems good as i saw a couple of bimmers and corvettes being fixed.
I got a focus as a rental. Although i knew ford was using those, i was surprised to find an engine looking identical to the 2.0 mazda3. The engine seems nice and smooth but the transmission blows.... one of the slowest "thinking" slush boxes i've ever driven... yet still it has dicent pick up for what it is, esp. compared to zetek that the 2000 focus station wagon we had years ago had
other than that i hate the new interior, although was happy to find an mp3 capable stereo. It will do as a rental for the time being, and i am very very glad it's not a neon or the like....
i hope everything gets settled tomorrow and my car will be getting fixed.
i should be able to take some pics of the progress
