As some of you may know (or not) I am looking to buy a msp, I go to a car club meet every thursday on the top of a parking ramp and every week on street leve I see a yellow msp in hella good condition. Today I decided to drive down and find the owner...and to my luck it was forsale,..it has 33,000 miles, garage kept stored in winters, the interior and exterior were extremly clean he wants 14,000.....do you think that is fair...I have found some for sale around my area of Minneapolis for less but not in as good of shape with as low of miles....I am going for a test drive in 2 weeks when I return from vaction.

here are my only 2 pics I shot..

That exhaust IS stock

well it's not the same exaust tip i have on mine.. it,s aALOT bigger and round.. not oval.. and mine is stock.. it's written MAZDASPEED on the side..

his may be a stock exaust but i dont think the yellows came with THAT exaust from the factory.. so it must be a STOCK replacement on his on "i" have a stock replacement on mine..

so which is which ??(strike)

Sounds like you could have the dealer option MS sport exhaust on yours, the oval one in that pic is stock for the 03.5s.

Edit: Although, I have seen a pic of a stock speed exhaust with a round tip and Mazdaspeed on the side, it could be that. I believe that design is the same as the MP3/03MSP exhaust.

That's stock. lol Maybe your's just seems bigger. Overall the car looks very nice and clean.

ok, ill take a pic of the exaust tip i have on mine in 6 hours..

i wannaknow which is which..

because mine has an outside diamter of 4" and it's round.

The 03 came with a round tip... the 03.5's came with the Mazdaspeed oval tip which is one of the documented "upgrade" features for the 03.5. Of course I know because I have one and have replaced mine with the 3" GHL turboback. (thumb)

If yours is round then you DO NOT have the 03.5 stock Mazdaspeed muffler.

The muffler posted on the pix on the first post of this thread is the stocker.

fiy i bought my msp stock with 37k miles and in pretty good condition for $12,500. I think anything above $13,500 is too much for an MSP.

indeed. also wasn't there something with the 03.5 tips cracking and when they went to replace them under warranty they found out that it was not being made any more and they had to be replaced with a round tip? i remember something about that way back when so even if your tip is round it could still be "stock" just not the one that originally came on the car

Ya I think I heard that also.

Here is the Mazdaspeed Sport exhaust from an 03 with the different stock rear bumper as well, not the 03.5 exhaust:

Is that the exhaust you have on yours frost? That is what they replaced my oval one with when it cracked.

Well, since this has become a pissing contest about exhaust tips, can we go back to pricing?

I got my MSP with like, 82k miles (a lot, I know) for 11k from a dealer. I think it had nonstock wheels (haven't taken the time to look them up yet) but under the hood she's standard. Did I do ok on pricing?

yes they were replaced when cracks would form that exhaust is the stock one for the 03.5's
I know a couple of users who got theirs replaced and were replaced with the Racing Beat oval tip. I think after time, those became hard to get for Mazda, and went to the round tip as stated here. Either way, both good pieces. I don't even like the oval... looks too much like a friggin Mercedes exhaust. But that's just me.. :D

Not a pissing contest... the guy had questions about what was what... peole are just posting what they know, which is why this forum exists to begin with.

Book on mine right now is $13,900 retail with like 73k miles so I'd say you did ok. Others will rebute that though.

The book on it will be over 14k and you have warranty until 50k. I would say 14k is a good asking price if I were the seller. 13 or 13,5 and I would say yes. Car appears to be in good shape according to the background you have on it so far. Be sure to ask for warranty work that has been done. You never know if this is one of the plagued MSP's that has had it's turbo replaced etc etc etc. The blazing yellows and 03.5's seemed to have less major problems with failures than the 03's did.
