i filled 14.9 gal in my tank--14.5 gal cap tank?

hahah so i decided i wanted to drive over 400 miles before I fill my tank up! About 150miles was highway and the rest city, i took the whole tank very easy, always in 4th or 5th gear, SLOW acceleration, but at 370 miles i finally cave since my gas light has been on a few miles, but i figure there are prolly 1.5-2gals left. I CAVED and filled up with midgrade (will NOT pay over $2/gal for gas, and prem was $2.04) so i started pumping up at the BP, the pump stopped at 11ish gals. I was like ****! I shouldn't have filled up! I could have made it... HOWEVER, I restarted the pump to see how much more i could get in... 12gals...13gals... i was like hahah sweet. than at $26.98 the pump stopped, and i tried to make an even $27. s***! It went to $27.01, what a PAIN IN THE ASS! (laugh) So I went upto $28.00 and asked my friend if i should stop at 14.2 gal or something or keep going, i was like- **** the even $28, I'm going to FILL THIS b****! haha, so i keep it going, it hits OVER 14.5gals (tank capacity) and I finally decide to shut her down at $28.70- NOT a drop of gas even overflowed!! (thumb) muhahaha so final was:

1.949 for 89 octane
$28.70 total purchase (ARGH!)
14.73 gals! (thumb)

muhahahah which means i musta been RUNNING ON FUMES

anyone else ever pump MORE than "capacity" into their mp3 ?!

I have done 445 miles (all highway) on 93.

Hmmmm.....I'm not sure what the actual capacity of the MSP is (I'd assume the same as the MP3), but I've put 14.3+ gallons of gas in mine multiple times. The tank in the protege pisses me off because it ALWAYS makes the pump stop about 2 gallons before it's actually full. For me the pump stops and then I can ALWAYS fit in another 2+ gallons if I go really slow with the pump. I usually fill her up until I can see gas in the tank hole (i.e. inches away from overlowing), which pretty much always translates to somewhere between 13.7 and 14.3 gallons.

I have always been amazed at how long I can go until I need to fill up. if you ask me that gas light comes on way too early!

hey...i dont drive an mp3 but my car is close enough to consider.

i usually put about 13 gal in there, and its about 26 bucks. the light does come on too easily though, you can have a quarter tank left, park on a hill and it comes on and stays on...what a mo fo.

this reminds me of that seinfeld episode, where kramer took that car out and ran it as low as he could on the gas...funny as hell
