ABS brakes

i don't have sunroof... about the airbag i don't know?

You should have airbags no matter what. I think they include airbags in the U.S. to meet minimum federal safety standards. MP3s without ABS doesn't mean it is not safe, it just doesn't have that extra safety feature that most cars are given as an option.

Not much to say about ABS, which stands for anti-lock brake system, except what I basically mentioned earlier. ABS works by monitoring the speed of all four wheels while decelerating. It will limit the hydralic pressure on any one of the four brakes if the sensors detects any one of the wheels locking up. Another reason why ABS brakes are better than non-ABS brakes is because it allows you to steer better. If your wheels are locked up, you're sliding straight at whatever it is you are about to hit. Very difficult to steer a car while the wheels are locked up. On the other hand, a car WITH ABS brakes can probably be steered in the desired direction a whole lot better while the driver has his/her foot jammed down hard on the brakes.

Just remember when you're driving the MP3 at a fast speed and you decide to jam on those brakes straight down, hard, then you may have some wheels lock up on you. It definitely won't roll easily in the direction you want it to, and it won't have an easier stopping power like a similar car with ABS would. You would also slide and skid easier.

So, drive carefully with that MP3, its a semi-race car wannabe. :D Race cars do not usually have ABS since it adds weight to it. I think in our case, though, Mazda MP3 doesn't have ABS because it cuts manufacturuing cost for Mazda.

Fix that car

Look for a Wreck Check certified repair center. (http://www.wreckcheck.net) I know the guy that started this service and was a perfectionist in his work. I used his body shop in Atlanta and you could not tell any repairs had been made. He also guaranteed the work for life. On one occasion I noticed about 6 months later that the paint didn't match perfectly. You could only see it under a specific lighting condition. No questions asked, it was repainted. They will guarantee the repair is done properly. If you have the car fixed somewhere else, they will inspect it to make sure the repair was done properly. I also used one of his certified shops down here in Ft Lauderdale. Same quality of work. The guy was honest, thorough and detailed. The dealership couldn't even tell it had been touched.

411-

ok ok-
here goes:)
On the p5 the ABS comes as a package with side airbags and mnrf-you CANNOT get abs without sunroof or the side airs-BUT you can get a snrf WITHOUT abs... i know this because that was my husbands and my compaint to Corporate Mazda:D -we have been bitching about that for a while now...to get safety features you MUST buy a $700 snrf (now what the hell does a snrf have to do with safety???-dont ask me ask mazda cuz i sure as heck dont know!!)
How ABS works-actually you slow down Slower then regular brakes...if they dont lock up on you!! well the P5 has front and rear disc brakes-just press gently but firmly all the time-the abs works only when you need it, it pulsates instead of just firmly trying to grip on the disc pad. hmm kinda hard to explain but i hope you get the idea. ABS makes the pad continue to squeeze on and off the disc to slow you down instead of locking up and freezing and maybe spinning out, etc. BUT the bad thing of ABS is that it takes a little longer for the car to stop-so its not like ABS will stop you instaniously if you are trying to stop real fast. Quite opposite in fact:) Esentially All it does is prevents your brakes from locking up on you.
Now the frame damage. Well depends on how much frame damage. If only a little bit then it probley wont be totalled. There are body shops with frame straiteners. If theres alot of damage to the frame then more then likley there is Alot of stuff that shifted around. Sounds like a pretty bad reck-if the exhaust is smoking...ouch. Also if the car that hit you rode low-then it might have just damaged the base of your vehicle, if it rode high and it did frame damage then it more then likely shifted stuff inside your car. It probley wont ever be the same again but it doesnt mean you cant get close :)
Best of luck!

SUnroof and Side impact

Do to the high level of pressure that the side impact airsbags put off, if there was to be an acident where the sides and both fronts were to go off, it could do serious damage to the human ear and other parts, now thats where the sunroof comes in, its designed to blow out, if preassure of a certain level is obtained. This isnt 100% but just what ive heard through the grapevine.:p

Sorry to hear about your accident. I've never been in a serious one myself, so i can't really imagine how you must feel. I've only had my P5 for a week, and I'm already so attached to it. I'd hate to lose it for any reason. I've learned that you can't get too attached to your ride. My last two got stolen after years of hard work and enrgy spent on fixing them up. Thank God for insurance, though, since that was the only way I got to get my new baby. Things happen for a reason... Who know's? You might be in a brand new car soon, and all this misery will be just a memory. Take care and good luck.;)

snrf with airbags

nah thats not true-the snrf is made of tempered glass just like the side windows-that means if that Was true then the side windows would bust out too-then no point in needing the snrf still...plus if it was just some pressure that is needed then all you would need to do is get a suction cup and that would blow the snrf/side windows out-hence, not likely...oh PLUS the alarm is not hooked up to the snrf-if you have it open they can get into your car easily thru that way, so its actually a liability not a safety...they said the perimeter alarm Might "cover" the snrf, the manager wasnt sure...more then likely Not, plus the perimeter alarm is cosidered an upgrade at the dealer...more money for them and it can still be defeated by a thief...dont get an alarm(does come standard on a M5), i would recommend Lojack, for the average thief-they can locate the car in 24hrs and they work with the police..but the pros can locate the lojack system and remove them, so in essence there is not a product out there that the pros cannot defeat, so if a pro wants your car he/ she will get it no matter the crud you add to it-doesnt that suck!!

Starting this year Lojack has been installing 2 devices. One is real and the other is a dummy. The dummy is placed so the thief will find it before the actuall unit.
That way they think they have removed it but the real device is still intact.

:) Well peeps i got good news........

i got my P5 back yeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :)
