OK. Here to quickly update the crew on my rider, with a little visual aide.

So I'm driving down a straight 2-lane street with companies on either side. About 200 yds. ahead is a minivan, with right turn signal on, and applying the brakes. Obviously making a right into a driveway. I see a Civic approaching form the other direction, with it's left turn signal on, going into the same driveway as the minivan.

So I look away for a second, and look back at the road. He is where the visual aide comes in.

I see the minivan stopped in the middle of the street, and the civic is pulling in front of me to turn into the driveway. I slam on my brakes, and tag the civic right on the right rear tire, and rip the bumper off.

I pull over and get out and the guy in the civic is cool but the guy in the minivan is saying "What the hell is your problem?" and "You caused the accident by going too fast!" I was like :wtf:

I said "What the both of you did was illegal. The van can't just stop in the middle of a 2 lane road, you have to continue your turn. The civic can't ever cross over another lane because he has to give right of way to me."

The guy in the van says " I was being nice and letting him go first. you should have seen that"

I said "Nice doesn't enter into it. Nice and the law are 2 seperate things."

They both say, "Well, we'll see when the cops get here."

So the cops show up and basically put the fault on all of us equally. The van is involved becuase he essentially started the accident by not continuing his turn into the driveway and giving right of way when he is not allowed to do so. The civic is at fault for not giving me right of way and crossing against traffic. And I'm at fault for essentially trying to pass the van on a 2 lane road. I should have slowed and made sure the van turned right, and not assumed. I guess I agree with that.

No police report becuase he would have had to have given all of us a ticket, and my driving record can't take another ticket right now(with it about to be suspended and everything).

So now I need a new front bumper, right front fender, hood, headlight, and foglight. No engine damage or frame damage, so thats good.

I'm going to see my ins. company at lunch to get an estimate, so I will probably be putting her in the shop this week.
Anyone have any recommendations on rental car places. Last time I used Enterprise and wound up with a Mitsu Lancer and I hated it. Anybody rent P5s? :(

I'll see if I can take some pics tonight and post them, but not sure you guys want to see that carnage.

i hate it when people think that because they were being "nice" on the road, that makes them think that nothing is their fault

you're supposed to drive like an asshole!! thats the american way!!!

oh and my eibachs came in about 5 min's ago:D

Dude Tony,

Crappy accident, at least no tickets got issued. As was drummed into me by my parents, you gotta drive defensively always assume the other guy is gonna be a putz and do something stupid, but it sounds like you really didn't have much of a chance with the van just stopping in the middle of the road like that.

For what it's worth, I think i saw Protege5s in a hertz lot.
