God Damn. I have the worst ******* luck...or maybe I should say
God Damn, I'm the biggest idiot.
The rx-7 has stock-sized 185/70-14 tires on it. I got a good deal on some Falkens for 100 bucks, but they're 185/60-14. No big deal, huh? 10% less sidewall is no biggie??
WRONG! Wheelworks won't mount them because it will change the speedometer, and it's a liability. I thought "**** them, Johanna(Julie's friend who's borrowing my car to drive to Marin) can just cruise over to Rishie's and he'll put 'em on for her".
NOPE! It changes the rolling mass of the wheel and that size is MUCH different than 185/70. Plus, those are Miata tires. WTF???
I'm so pissed. I have NO money, it's Christmas, and I just blew my last 100 bucks on tires that no one will put on my car for me. Johanna is about to drive to Marin County and back on tires that are literally about to blow up. One of them has a bubble in the tread, so the car wobbles back and forth(at any speed). She has no car and need to be at work in Marin by noon, so she's going for it, tires or no tires. I just hope she doesn't die.
Call me an idiot(again), but 10% less sidewall seems more safe than a BUBBLE IN THE TREAD!!

heh, I was pretty pissed this morning. Sorry for the egg-rant.
Johanna borrowed her dad's car, so it turned out to be no big deal anyway. The good news is the FC feels like a new car! I can't believe how much difference the tires made. (thumb)
In Rishie's defense, I woke him up at 8:30 to hit him up with a math question. Plus he had to get ready for that drift show down south, so he had other more important s*** on his mind.
Either way, I'm stoked. The FC drives soo much better than it did, and the speedometer was off calibur anyway. I may take that puppy up to the hills tonight and try to burn through my new tires! (hint hint)

I think part of my problem this morning, at least with the local tire dealer, was the fact that Johanna's a girl. She had to get going early this AM, so I loaded the tire in the back of the car last night, so she could take it to the shop 1st thing this AM for the mounting.
I think they were trying to pressure her into buying tires from them; busting out the "rolling mass" s*** on her.
