Hwy 9 Fun Run!

(woowoo)
1. That was a marathon mission for me! I went from home to Bonny Doon rd. to 236 to 9 to Saratoga to Rishie's to Calaveras!

2. Tony, I hope you'll be able to buff out that scratch. I'm also glad that your beautiful P5(one of my favorites on the board, BTW) isn't damaged. That was a close one!

3. I guess those MR2 guys didn't like having us reel them in on their own road like that. :D (in a whiney voice) "WTF? Let's go!!" That would have been funny if the one guy slid into his friend at the stop sign. LOL, maybe he was demonstrating the Super JDM Dorifto Stop Sign Technique.

4. Fire Marshall Tony and Deputy Jimmy are my heros! They saved countless little furry little animals when they put out that brush-fire on Calaveras!(flame2) Jimmy gets the Hot Foot Award for jumping into the embers with slippers on. :D

Anyway, that was another fun run last night, guys! I'm going surfing. :)

OK, so last night, Jimmy, Nate, and I hit up Calaveras Rd. We were doing some pretty spirited driving when we saw what looked like Xmas light on the side of one of the hills. As we got closer, we realized that it was a grass fire! Very small still, but the hillside was all grass and dead bush. Jimmy and I jump out of our cars and Nate takes off to see if he can find the Ranger that we passed 15 minutes earlier.

Luckily, Jimmy and I had a few water bottles that we were able to use to throw on the fire, but they weren't enough. So Jimmy and I started to climb down the hill to stomp it out. Remember that this is probably 20-30 ft. down the side of a 50-60 degree hillside. One slip and you were in the fire or, at the very least, into the barb wire fence. So he and I climbed/slid down the hill and began putting it out with a blanket he had in his car. Jimmy slipped on the way down, and almost fell right into the fire!

Anyway, he and I essentially put out the rest of the fire by ourselves. Nate came back (couldn't find the Ranger), and helped us finsh up the job by (piss) on some "hot spots". This whole time (20-30 mins.) not a single car drove by.

So Jimmy and I felt good. We were heroes! (braindead We continued our drive and passed a group of cars, with the MR2 that Nates mentioned. We kept driving and Nate flashed me to tell me "Let's go catch those guys!" I was into it, but couldn't turn around right there. Nate could so he was out. I had to continue up for another quarter mile until the road got wide enough for me to turn around.

I turn around and proceed to get stuck behind some big truck. He kept me behind him for a while and I'm getting pissed because Jimmy and Nate are getting further ahead (1st Mistake). Finally, he pulls over and I take off, thinking, " I can catch up to those guys" (2nd Mistake).

10 seconds (no s***) after I pass the truck, I come up on a slight right into a hard left, with the road falling away to the right on the left hander. I came out of the right turn way too hot and the elevation change and pitch of the hard left made it hard to slow down. So I understeered into the mountainside doing about 5MPH. Another 10 ft. of road and I would have been fine. The car started and I was able to reverse out and get going again.

Finally met up with Nate and Jimmy 15 mins. later. We jump out and the damage is not that bad. My right foglight glass is gone, but the light still works. The bumper is a little scratched, a little bent, and pushed into the body a little, but not as bad as I expected. No frame damage. And I think my windshield wiper fluid reservoir was busted, but since I don't have nozzle holes drilled into the CF hood, I never use it anyway.

All in all, unless you're looking for it, you could probably miss it, but I know it' s there! (pissed) I guess it could have been worse. Now I'm on the lookout for a new foglight and possibly a new bumper. Good thing my GF works at a body shop! (2thumbs) I'll try to get pictures later today.

So yeah, interesting night. I thought Karma would've had my back since we put out that fire, but I guess not.

thats tobad about your car, i did something like that with dan in my rsx i passed up a van and to the one long cornor, i was drifting the hole thing and if i had 5 feet could have pulled it but since its FF my door hit the mtn side and the rock that was sitting there. When we hit the rock it launched us in the air and straight down thought for sure we were gonan go end over end but as we hit the ground my front tries hit and i steped on the gas and the got the car to even out and i landed and fish tailed and pulled the ebrake to 180 since i was heading twords the other wall got the car faceing the right way and started looking for a spot to park and check the dmg. got out and was amazed to see that all i got was a small dent flat tires in the back from landing and i lost the side skirt on that side.
hehe me and my friends alwasys have a bit of trouble on that one cornor

Yea, I was behind your group there with my own driving group. You guys were going SLOW. I was hoping I could make a return trip following one of your faster drivers at a much faster pace, but I guess not. I was getting out of the car, after your brother spun out at the stop sign, but you guys just took off w/o saying hello.

Tell your brother that I'm sorry for high beaming him, but some of those corners are really hard to see through at night w/o the high beams.

RE-92's suck and you should definately get better tires, they would make a huge difference in your cornering speed, cause it looked like you were having a hard time keeping up.

OH, and on one of the last hairpins w/ that convertible full of teenagers; earlier that night we completely stomped out a grass fire that was going on. We thought a car had gone off and was burning, but probally just somebody throwing out a cigarette butt that lit it.

yeah we didnt want to go fast last night, because it was our first time out on that road. as for my cousin...his tires are completely bald in the rear so i guess he was going extra slow. i agree re-92's suck balls. i wasnt even taking those turns hard and they were screaming their lungs out. didnt even realize you guys were behind us til my cousin spun out. i would told the lead car to go a little faster.

Sounds like a pretty cool bunch of guys. We should see about hooking up with them for a run in the future.

Yes, if stock WRX tires are RE-92's, then they do indeed suck. You got MUCH faster even with the ES100s(I think that's what they were) that were on the Rotas. Now, with the Azenis,
