Huntsville May Meet **May 26**

Hey guys. Our April meet was indeed larger than the first 3 cars we had in March. I'm hoping that our Huntsville meet will bring in more Mazdas. Since we're a central city, we'll be welcoming the Tennessee and Birmingham Mazda drivers to our area.

The details are still sketchy. I sadly wasn't able to make it to the April meet due to being hospitalized and bed bound til May 2-3.

Details that we are sticking to right now is that it will take place May 26th, which is a Saturday and be held at 2pm CST. We normally wait atleast 30minutes on any stragglers that could be caught up in traffic. We had 1 person who was lost when he got caught at a light. I don't want that to happen again. My cell phone number is (256)541-0137. It's Verizon. Depending on the crowd, I'm having the existing members who have shown at both meets bring 2 way radios for communication purposes. Daniel is a Mazdaspeed3 owner on the "other" mazda3 forums. He gave a good idea about eating at Crickets, a locally owned mom&pop wing place here in Huntsville. They have a parking lot that should accommodate our cars for "dinner" The area for photos will have to be searched out and I will get back to you guys on this. Once I'm able to drive around again I'll be looking at all the parks in the area.

I welcome any Mazda Enthusiast and anyone else who would like to take part in our meet!

I'll be leading a small group down from Murfreesboro if anyone wants in. We'll be going down HWY 231 for a scenic drive. I'll have three cobra two-way radios for communication. I don't want anyone getting lost like last time.

If the directions from whatever you use for maps seems complicated I can change it. I plan on taking a scenic route down there, but it is also quicker then the interstate. Oh yeah I almost forgot, the guy planning it has us going to see the pirated movie. I'll have to find the address and the web site to buy tickets so we can get in. The meet starts at 1:00-ish with the movie at 2:30 and dinner after with a drive somewhere for photos. I'll get more detail when I talk to him later.

1. Have to find someone else thats close to drive down with

2. Drive "Total Est. Time: 4 hours, 44 minutes Total Est. Distance: 274.36 miles, according to mapquest" just to drive down with you.

3. Or suck it up and drive "Total Est. Time: 3 hours, 31 minutes Total Est. Distance: 208.16 miles" by myself.

Why dont you meet up with us like half way down there?

And what movie is the one you are talking about? And do we have to buy tickets online? Or can we just buy them there? Who all is planning to stay the night there? I think me and my boy Will are going to stay over night and drive back the next morning or something.

I vote we meet at a business, and close to the starting point of where Hwy 231 is, for the simple fact that...1) Im not going to drive randomly around Nashville or Murfreesboro to find a house Ive never been to before. I think it would be easier to just meet at some place that everyone knows like a gas station or a restaurant thats easy to find. Just my 2cents.

So who is actually leading this trip? If no one else is...I'll take the reigns on this and start looking up info on how to get down there the fastest way possible. Bear in mind...traffic is going to be terrible...its Memorial Day weekend. So the earlier we leave the better..ya we might get there a couple hours early, but oh well. If the meet starts at like 1-2pm...then we should leave here at a good time, like 4hrs ahead of the meet..in case anything happens...like a car breaks down, or someone gets lost or something like that. But ya...feedback all the people from Nashville or where ever that are going to convoy with us all to Huntsville?

Here is the what the Huntsville guy told me about the start time:

Ordered my tickets. I'd say if we want to get good seats, we should enter the Rave about 15-20mins before the movie starts. I'd guess 1hr before showtime would be reasonable (13:30ish), just enough time for greetings/socialization/picture taking.

Run time for the movie is around 2hrs45mins so I'd guess that we wont get out until 17:30ish, probably a good thing because it should be relatively cooler at that time. Post-movie plans could be a group cruise around town, and then to the dinner location were we can socialize/take pictures for a while.

We can meet at this Food Lion:
3060 South Church St.
Murfreesboro TN 37129

The Food Lion is on Hwy 231 which it what I was going to take. If I went the I-65 way it would take like 3 hours and I'd just be making a circle. 231 shaves about an hour off the drive and takes us right into huntsville. If you are on I-24 get off on Exit 81A and just follow that till you see the food lion on the right. There is a Walgreens on the corner where the food lion is. If you are on I-65, just get on 840 and take it to the I-24 exit and head toward Murfreesboro. I believe exit 81A is now the third exit for Murfreesboro if you are coming from the Nashville direction.

Let me know what time you guys want to meet at the food lion. If you want to leave 4 hours ahead that will be 9:00 am. Sorry for not replying sooner, I seem to always be busy. (eekdance)

I will also print out about 10 copies of the directions from the food lion to the theatre so if someone gets horribly lost you will have a copy of how to get there. I don't expect this to be an issue, but you never know!

Lol its cool Dugger I think if the meet starts at like 1pm, that we should leave around say maybe 10am? give or take...I know I would like to get checked into my hotel and s*** before the meet...so if anyone doesn't mind leaving at like 9 am then that we can get there and still have time left over in case something happens...and I'm sure we will at least stop once or so on the way there for a potty break or to stretch. So does 9am sound good for everyone?

Hey I hate to be all mind change-y with you guys, but my plan currently is to get up at 9 and leave at 9:30-10.. and get down there at 12-1
BUT!! If I am too excited and can't sleep, I'll leave at 6am and meet up with Chris and dugger_8, and follow those guys.

I finally got the ticket for the movie. I was VERY hesitant since I didn't like the first one, my boyfriend forced me to watch the second one.. and I'll try to like this one. (smash)

The drive from food lion to the theatre is only about an hour and half, so leaving at 10:00 would be good, puts us there at 11:30 if nothing happens. We do go through a town where we could stop for lunch if you want. I'll probably get to the meet point at 9:30 in case you guys make better time then planned.
