Hugely disappointed.

The seats do look thin, and side support also looks sparse.
But in the real world you have to test drive a car to test the seats and everything else.

If youre buying a car on looks alone then why even look at a suv?
Surly you should be looking at a Jaguar or similar.

I test driven the new sant fe and to drive its dire, terribly on the road, I only took it a mile and did a uturn back to the garage.

Yes the CX-5 interior is dark, but you do have a lighter option, in the UK the lighter option looks like a off white yellow leather, not very nice IMO.

As for driving the CX-5, I can drive it for 2.5 hours and still feel fresh when I get out.
With the Audi I had with thicker looking seats, with hip hugging side supports, I would have back ache after 2 hours, with the xtrails they were better, but not as good as the CX-5, this is my experience which may be different to some one else as our bodies come in all shapes and sizes.

For me the CX-5 could benefit from a 7" screen, and lighting that matches the instrument panel, but really driving the CX-5 is a pleasure, I just need to get my flat battery problem sorted.

I just went to the Motortrend auto show and checked out all the CUV's, looking forward to checking out in person the CX5, was all good outside, looks good, great ground clearance, but all that good stuff came to a halt when I opened the door, all was flimsy plastic everywhere, seats were narrow and thin, Nav looked like it was OK on a car made in 2005, all was black and didn't look good overall, center armrest was good for nothing. I thought Mazda was driver focused, but they didn't take into account the seats and armrest, I would gladly give up a cupholder in the middle to get a good long armrest. My wife was disappointed as well, we had already seen the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage, and for the same class and price range, they were much better overall inside, Santa fe was the best of them all, under 40 grand, nice everything, inside looked great. I was thinking of the CX5, since all the reviews said it drives very well, but now it's off my list, so are the sportage and tucson, nothing wrong with them, but the seats are all the same in those CUV'S, no width, no thinckness and no lateral support, just like the CX5. I hope they'll make huge design improvements in the interior of the CX5 for 2014, till then the CX5 is off my list.

Yes Mazda's are a drivers car - so don't judge them until you drive one. Flimsy plastic? What were you expecting, carbon fiber or wood? I like a longer arm rest too but it is not a deal breaker. I disagree about the seats the bolsters are nice - especially for a mid to high $20k car. Why compare the CX-5 to a Santa Fe - a car costing over $8k more? Sounds like you should be shopping for a $50k car/suv.

My experience as an owner of a CX-5 after six months matches the reports in countless, consistent professional reviews of the CX-5 as well as the many satisfied owner testimonials from CX-5 owners.

I get excellent fuel economy, I have enough power, the car is fun to drive, it can go offroad in mountains, mud and snow, it is comfortable for my passengers and myself.

At this point I don't have anything that I don't like about the vehicle.

Despite the measurable positive qualities that the CX-5 has, the CX-5 is not right for all people and this poster clearly makes that case. Some people ignore measurable qualities and put personal impressions and emotional evaluation before anything else. I hope they find other vehicles they are as satisfied with and proud to own as I am of my CX-5.

I did find this poster's comments about seats being "too narrow" strange. If anything, I would have chosen more narrow seats for a more sport-car like feel. But in reality, the CX-5's ground clearance prevents me from taking corners as aggressively as I would in a lower-positioned car. So the seats are OK for me, but I definitely don't want them bigger. I think this is clearly a personal need of the poster and not the general audience.

Perhaps the OP is a fat man, so looking for a SUV with ex loading carrying capacity, I see it often in the UK on caravan sites, 4x4 pulls up, fat man jump out and the car can be seen to physically lift.

Yes, it seems you guys just spent 4 pages responding to a troll. Is the CX-5 really that good that the Hyundai lovers are getting nervous? ;)

Hyundai just doesn't compare to Mazda, any Mazda. They're simply outclassed...

Just because he might be a troll doesn't mean some valid points were not brought up.

You are absolutely correct of course. My post was not meant to redicule any one who posted here (hence the smiley). Sorry if it came out that way.

I figured the guy was a troll in his responses to the whole oil thing in the other section of the forum.
No one can be that stupid and thick in the head without it actually being intentional.

Then when he created this thread, he just proved to me beyond a reasonable doubt that he's just an internet troll, bored with his pointless life.

He will reply, though.
Don't you believe otherwise.

BC.
