but the focals i heard are the 165K2Pi beleive they are 6X9 components...

No one makes a speaker at level that is a 6x9. The 165k2P is a 6.5" component. There are various flavors of it.

They sound great and are in the running as my next set of speakers with the boston Z's

I would buy a 4ga wiring kit from www.knukonceptz.com. You will also need a LOC from www.davidnavone.com if you want to use the stock head unit.

The amp you have is 80x4 or 250x2. There are plenty of how-tos on this forum and the internet to guide you through installing an amplifier.

80 watts is a bit overkill for the stock speakers. They won't last very long with that kind of power. I would recommend upgrading the front speakers with a set of components ($115 and up) and getting a small subwoofer for the hatch (a JL Audio 10w3v2 dual 2ohm will work great but any 4ohm or dual 2ohm sub rated for 200-400 watts will work). There are also some nice 8" subs if you are looking to save space.

I do not recommend doing anything with the rear speakers. You don't need them to get a "loud" system and they only hurt the SQ of the system by pulling the sound stage to the rear of the car.

Yeah i don't plan to do anything with the rear since they SUCKS. Would you recommend that I set up the amp with 250x2, and just run them to the 2 front aftermarket speaker?

is this the kit I need?

Just as 80x2 is overkill for stock speakers, 250x2 is overkill for any aftermarket setup unless you go ultra-mega-high-end in which case you would be looking at installing 8" or 10" midbass drivers in your front doors...which I doubt is your goal.

I suppose if you kept the gain down low it would work with a nice set of 6.5" components but for the best results a small subwoofer in the hatch is the way to go. You could also consider installing free-air 6.5" subwoofers in the rear doors if space is a concern. I don't know a company off-hand that makes them though.

...and yes, that is the kit you need. You want the one that comes with two RCA cables (one for front channels and one for rear).
