Has anyone participated in any of these events or joined the club?

I am interested in started autocross after the Mazda Rev It Up event. I looked at the results on this site and saw 3 different Mazdaspeed's, so I am hoping that at least 1 of you are on the boards and can let me know how to get started.

Thanks,
Ryan

If you go to the Twin Cites section in www.clubprotege.com, there is a friend of mine who posts all the time about autocrossing. Can't remember his name, I'll post a link later, the site's down right now.

I got hooked last year and ended up taking 2nd in D-Stock Street Tire. I'm trying to make it to every event this year. Definitely the second best way I can think of to spend an afternoon with my wife. Did I mention she started driving this year too (autocross I mean). Anyway, you should really try and make it to the next event at St. Cloud. It's the best track we have, other than the ValleyFair event, which was a fluke. All you really NEED to get started is a car, drivers license and like $35. They have helmets you can borrow if you don't have a SNELL approved one. Other than those few things, you just need a good attitude and a strong ego...cause it sure isn't like driving on the street.

Anyway, Jacob at Morries Mazda got me into it...said it was the best and all, I started going and haven't ever seen him there. Anyway, I love it and look forward to every event. If you do like it, become a member and then register for events online in advance...saves you like $10--$15 per event.

A couple other things to bring if you really want...a cooler with some snacks and beverages (no booze), sunscreen...hot parking lot all day with no shade, some blue painters tape to put numbers on your car...masking tape works too, if you want to be hardcore a tire pressure gauge and air pump/tank.

Anyway I hope you make it.

I also forgot to mention you should clean out your car before you show up. You aren't allowed to have any loose items in the car, that even includes floor mats. I usually get all the loose junk out before I go and then make a pile of car stuff, spare tire, jack, floor mats, in the parking lot.

Hope you can make it next month.

Excellent!

Do they only race on Sundays? Reason I ask is that I have Sailing races every Sunday in Wayzata.

I was a ahrdcore autocrosser the last few years but kinda gave up this year ever since they ahve this new stupid class where they lump EVYERONME with street tire sinto one stupid class.

Now im hardcore rallycrossing. I WILL be racing at the valley fair event which WILL BE AWESOEM again. its a HUGE lot and the course is very VERY long. I highly suggest you go to this one. ill try to post abotu it before the event sometime, but its in 3 weeks from now i think?

Yeah, the Valley Fair event was awesome. The next one is Sunday, Oct. 3rd. If you want to go, make sure you pre register at www.mnautox.com because they are only allowing like 150 people.

As for the classing..it does suck. Some of us have decided to give ourselves a handicap and just run stock class. I've been coming in second to a Type-R that runs race tires. Good times!

just pre registered.

I went into street tire class but i see people in regular H stock? what do you think i should go into? I already have 2 good finishes in STh, but know I could get first in H stock again (i was hoping to have gotten first place HST champion this year till they put me in STh).

bah, what to do

edit:

guess I wont be going to valleyfair. I have a rallycross the same day in WI (pissed)
