HPDE lapping day @ BeaveRun October 2 2011

I am signing up today the weather looks good, sunny and a high of 67. anyone else going?

We'll be out there to support you guys and lend a hand and do some coaching for those who need it.

If I get my quarterly bonus I would feel better about running. I really need to save money for the Milly motor. But I'll be there for support. :)

It's like an eBay auction...the list keeps growing hours before the deadline. LOL

Up to 22 now, from me being the 14th person to register at lunchtime today. Couple cool cars in the advanced group...'08 Viper ACR and '06 Ferrari 430!

Reg. closed @ 8:00pm. 24 cars entered, 9 cars in group 1(beginner), 8 cars in group 2, and 7 in group 3. should be a nice day.
I got my friend to run his MG Miget, and the guy that ran in HPDE with me at Mid Ohio in the Red 1st Gen RX-7 is also coming out to run. I still need to change brake pads, get fuel and pack the truck. see you guys there.

I saw quite a few RX-7's! My neighbor needed to come out with his '90, then all the generations would've been there!

Being my first track day, what are some items I need to pack? So far I have...

-Chairs
-Cooler w/drinks & snacks
-2 extra tires & tire changing tools (for the ride home, just in case)
-Helmet
-Taking out backseat, carpet, spare tire, etc.

HAHAHA....registration has been expanded until Thursday at 11:59pm. They must want a few more people in on this. I thought that seemed like a low number to rent out an entire track.

I so wish this were on a Saturday. Sundays are completly out for me to travel too far and still be home, and with enough of a nap to be at work at 7pm.

You can probably leave the back seat and carpet in unless its easy to remove. you are go out for your first laping event its not even timed unless you have some do it for you.
some things that I bring are a extra oil, sun block, extra socks and shoes(your feet may get wet in the morning from dew) socket set , hand tools, a jack, torque wrench w/ the correct sock for your lug nuts. if you have wheel locks it would be best to remove them and buy 4 lug nuts to replace them, I have seen many people forget there wheel lock tool at home or strip the lock itself. Iwill bring my easyup and extra fuel so I don't have to buy it at the track. make sure you fill you car up at a gas station in town before you go up to the track. the gas at the track can go as high as $5-$7 a gallon. if you have any other questions let me know. If you forget something more than likely me or someone else will have what you need.

The only other thing I can think of is bring a tire pressure gauge. You'll definitely want to be checking your tire pressures immediately after each session. I always have to let air out because as the tires heat up, the PSI increases. I also bring one of those tire pumps that plug into your car...that way you can pump up the tires back to street PSI before leaving the track (after the tires cool down completely). Of course...this is only if you're driving home on the track wheels.

Definitely fuel up in town before arriving at the track! And if you have any 5 gallon gas cans, bring one...that way you don't have to buy gas at the track...or buy gas from someone smart enough to bring extra gas HAHA!

All this talk makes me sad I can't run again this season. O well...next season I'll be better prepared with tires and a real suspension...hopefully!!! haha

We can bring our air tank and gauge if you want. Just a quick FYI for you Josh, your handling will change as the fuel load lightens, here are a few words of wisdom for you.

1. Relax & breathe!!! You'll be nervous, I get that way at every event it is normal. Just get to your car early, get strapped in and meditate for a few minutes and just breathe. go out and get heat in your tires and brakes, once the 1st lap is done, you will not be worried about anything but findiong and executing the proper lines and braking zones!

2. Do not over think, just take instruction and gradually work up to speed, it is not a race, you are going out to learn both you and your cars limitations.

3. Have fun! Go out and learn the course enjoy yourself.

The rear seat bottoms are easy, and the backs just have a few bolts. And I was referring to the carpet piece in the hatch area that just comes out. Might be overkill, but with the amount of stuff I'm gonna have in the car, I wanted to make sure it all fit without messing up my seats. Any kind of weight on the rear seats when they're folded down, and the leather gets indentations from the brackets that takes forever to work out.

And would I be alright to last all day on a full tank, if I were to fill up before we get there? How much gas can I expect to use up with this much track time?

Yea, I'm just rolling the tires I have on the car now. (Proxy4's) taking 2 of my winter wheels just in case I jack up one of my summer tires, I can still make it home. lol

Do they have air at the track? If not, the tank would be great!

And thanks for the tips, Marlon. I can't wait to get out there and see what this is like!

What time are you guys (spectators) rolling out? I don't think Steph is going to wake up that early to ride with me, so she'll have to roll out on her own later.

Call Jay and tell him I referred you to him Here's the number: 330.435.4848

Just have fun!

For your first track day just make sure that you enough gas in your car, about 5 extra PSI in your tires, and all the loose items out of your car and you should be good and you will have fun. Just starting out you really don't have to do much to prepare. You be out there driving the car like Senna. :)

Marlon, I think I remember seeing that Jay deals Hawk pads. Do you have any contacts, or preferred vendors that sell Carbotechs?

Josh
I will be there @8:00 am we can go over some simple things that you should work on.
I will have an air tank with me if you need it. I usually bring way to much stuff!!
