Howdy everyone!

Been doing some research on a CX-7 (namely a 2007 cX7 Grand Touring). The only way I can get my wife to sell/trade her car is to buy her a CX (either a 7 or a 9). We're HUGE Mazda fans. Her parents bought a Mazda3 because of how highly we speak about our current Mazda. The reliability of ours and how it's taken the abuse and STILL bluebooks at 3k for a private party resale leads us to want another Mazda.

Just came over to pop in, see any common issues with them, any advice on things to be wary of (buying it used obviously with 107k miles on it).

From what I gathered there may be turbo issues (this one isn't affected, different VIN), issues with the VVT belt (I'll be up a creek with this because I'm buying used i'm the 2nd or 3rd owner). Other than that it's a clean carfax/autocheck history.

I'm not really woried about the ownership of a turbo vehicle as I have a late 90's Toyota celica (obviously) that I recently got onto the road after a long 2 year project.

So...anything I should be cautious about? It'll be a commuter for my wife mostly (15 miles give or take round trip for work a couple days a week) plus occasional trips out of town (california, up camping, hunting, etc).

If it's anything like our current Mazda, regular oil changes and a keen eye on it will get us over 200k. We currently have a 2002 Mazda 626 with the FSDE/CD4E (2.0l 4cyl). Bought it August 2003 with 29k miles, still have it almost 10 years later with 201k miles. Regular oil changes and maintenance (rubber parts, belts, hoses, brakes, etc) has kept it going. Just finally replaced the whole cooling system (radiator/fans/water pump/timing belt) about 3 months ago.

Cliffs:
Looking to buy a 2007 CX7 with 107k miles. Yay or nay? What should I look out for?

Seems like a lot of miles isn't there any around where your at with less mileage? That being said I would wonder if the Spark plugs have been changed, has the Valve train actuator been replaced (Lots failed under warranty or just after), has the timing belt ever been replaced. If not those things are due plus a lot more at 100 to 120,000 miles.

I bought my 07 CX-7 on 11/07 and only have 45,000 on it. I have had the VTA replaced at 28,000, a seal in the tranny at 35,000, a strut at 42,000 and I plan on replacing the timing belt at about 60,000 just to prevent problems. I'm not trying to sound negative as I like the car, I just think you need to look at something with less mileage.

There is a owners manuel here (http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123648345-2007-Mazda-CX-7-Owner-s-Manual-PDF)
Good luck with what ever you do.
