How wired are the 03.5's for Fog Lights?

03.5 MSP and 94 Cobra
I purchased and installed a factory fog light switch from Mazda in the spot where it would go in a P5 or 03 MSP.

There was already wiring attached to the rear of the dummy panel that I removed. I plugged it in and the switch already has power to the light in it.

Is the rest of the car wired all the way to the front bumper as well?

I'm guessing I will have to add a relay at the very least, but I haven't checked that far into it yet.

I want to be as ready as possible when I find the "perfect" lights for my front...

I would assume it is all wired from the factory.. but I dont have a MSP to tell you yes or no..

On a side note, I see you are in Texas. What part? When you put the switch in you had to take out a dummy plate right? Care to sell that to me? I need a blank one.

I am in the Austin area.

The blank one that I removed I put in place of that odd looking thing that looks like it would just collect dust. I don't know what it is called, but I am sure your local junk yard would have some Proteges that you could get one from.

I'll look next time I go...

this is interesting. I haven't put in my switch yet, waiting for the fog kits to be finished here. Get under your front bumper and see if the wires are there. I got my doubts though.

Install the switch... it is kind of a b**** to get the dummy panel out, but on the good side you don't have to hunt for the harness as it is plugged into the back of the dummy panel.

As I mentioned, I also took out the odd looking piece next to it and replaced it with the dummy panel that I removed to install the FL switch. There is already power to that harness so it is kind of cool that it lights up with the lights on. Plus it looks stock and not added on... of course I paid $43 for that "look" and still have no fogs. lol

reviving a dead thread, but i searched and searched and this question was never answered... do the 03.5/7's have the wiring that the 03's and P5's have? i'm gonna be aquiring some P5 fogs shortly and wiring harness is spoken for, so i have my fingers crossed that the complete fog light harness is just dangling there waiting for me to install some fog lights :D...

thanks for any help, next chance i get to visit the speed in storage i'll take a look, but if someone else knows for sure i'd rather know now...

yes, they are wired all the way up front. All you need is the last bit of wiring right before the fogs.

no, u're wrong mspdfreak.

it's not a little bit of wire, it's a big harness.
and u have to get a relay, which noone mentioned in this thread.

things u need to make 03.5 work with 03/P5 fogs:
1. switch.
2. relay, similar to the relay that u need for your headlights. above your left foot, near alarm module.
3. foglight harness that plugs into the outlet next to the winshield washer tank.

not the whole harness.
just the part that goes from the plug by the water reservoir.
it's below the passanger headlight, right where bumper connects to the fender.

ya, thats what i meant, the whole harness inside the engine bay, if i would have to plumb wires and s*** further than just inside the engine bay i'd just fab up my own wiring, its not like its terribly hard or anything :p... thanks for the info man, its much appreciated (thumb)...

no problem
u can actually run your own wiring if u want, it wont be as clean as OEM, but it could be done.

there are 2 wires, positive and ground.

i dont know how much the harness is from mazda.......but i payed $28 for the relay.
(i had the switch from my crashed MSP)

just throw in piaa 540's and wire the rest to your stock setup....... much brighter and cheaper........

part numbers?

relay?
switch?
harness?
i dont know any of the part numbers.
maybe ask blkzoom-zoom, he's a mazda tech.

540's are cheaper/brighter and fit just as good and come with their own relay's........

I haven't messed with my car since the windshield was attacked by a giant meteor about three weeks after getting the first windshield replaced... It's been sitting for most of the last year... I would like to get back into the car and start messing with her again, which may happen... I would love to at least install my BAD ASS custom grounding kit since I am in it alone for almost $300.... and also finish off the foglight wiring as OEM as possible and then install whatever aftermarket lights will look best on the car...

i have an ES and i did the msp conversion. the body shop left the ES harnesses intact for me to put on later. my friends got me the msp foglights and when i went to put them in, the fog lights had a female connector, and the ES harness had a female connector. can i just replace the harness (pn: B30P-51-688B, $40 from dealer) and finish connecting the fog lights? thanks.
