How to securely attach cooling fans ?

Hey folks so I had my radiator replaced in November 2013, and the service guys reattached my fans using zip ties and made spaces between the fins in the radiator to put the zip tie thru.

Is that the only way to attach my cooling fans ?

Before every cold start I do like a 5min inspection before driving and I noticed that all the zip ties were broken and fans were loose. The zip ties were hard and brittle.
I read the service manual and it is not very detail in how to securely attach the cooling fans

From the factory the fans bolt in, if you have aftermarket fans they use the zip ties to secure them. You can buy new ties, they are sold at the parts stores as a mounting kit for an external fluid cooler like a trans cooler. If you install them properly with the weight of the fan supported on the bottom the ties will last longer. I have them on my car and I don't like them at all but they get the job done.
