Hey guys been noticing i have getting some poor economy with my car. Was wondering if there was a way to reset the ecu. I have a obd2 scanner and the Andriod app Torque to clear error codes and stuff. I don't believe that disconnecting the battery will do anything, but let me know if there is a way.

Cheers

How to reset your ECU

1. Disconnect the negative terminal on the car battery
2. Pump the brake pedal several times (7-8 times) to discharge any left over current (or alternatively you can wait a few hours, your pick)
3. Reconnect battery
4. Congratulations, you have just reset the ECU, but now you have to reset a few other things :)

Resetting the ECU won't fix poor fuel economy. It will eventually just get back to where it was. Can you actually read your fuel trims with that app?

Yep, full set of mode 1 PID's area available as standard & you can write you own if you know the address or PID you want....

Shaun....

Thanks. what else will reset? The stereo which will require a security code from mazda i presume?

The stereo will forget its programmed radio stations and settings (treble, bass, etc.) but that's it. Any speed or mpg averages on your cluster display will also be reset.
