Your straw theory is false. Drinking through one straw vs 2 is more difficult but breathing is not. There are no additional forces involved. Now if you bend the straw into lots of hard angles you may have a point.
If the 'possible' 1-2 HP isn't important then I ask why was the first 1-2 HP gain important enough for you to spend $50?
The answer must be "because it sounds good" because that's all you really get when the intake is the only thing you change. The intercooler and turbo alone are a bigger drag on the airflow than the stock airbox. Add a high-flow turbo back exhaust and less restrictive intercooler coupled with engine management and THEN you might start to see some gains from an intake.
