This is the best picture that I have of my painted calipers/rotors/dust shield.

Painting them on it allow you to hit up other brake components.

wont the paint scrap off after a wile when u brake ?

The paint will only scrape off of the area that the pads have contact. the rest will stay painted, for the most part.

Prep is important. If your don't hit the edge of the rotor up with a wire brush or sand paper the rust will cause the paint to not last long.

I hit it up with a fresh coat when I change my pads.

sorry to bring up an old thread, but i made the mistake of cleaning a new blank rotor with brake cleaner and what i thought was a lint-free cloth. well there is lint in the paint that i can see now when the paint has dried. is there a quick way to get rid of the lint before i do my 2nd coat? thanks for any advice.

btw i found i am much better at masking than spray painting. i'd recommend some practice so you get an idea of how the spray covers different areas, as some areas got runny and others didnt have enough. also when i blow my nose, my snot is the color of the spray paint.

searched around the web and tried to lightly sand, wash, and use a tack cloth. sanding got rid of the lint (it was mostly paper towel lint) and rewashed it and when i used the tack cloth, it left behind a sticky residue. washed again but still sticky. im never gonna get this right. with the heat these rotors get up to, will paper lint and sticky residue be a concern?

What did you clean it with? Is it clumpy or smooth? If it is smooth paint it and move on, if it is clumpy you may have to let the paint cure and sand or spray a light coat to cover the residue and sand.

cleaned with brake cleaner, then soap & water, left behind some fibers from the paper towels and cloths i used to dry. they left little fibers sticking up in the paint. i sanded, cleaned again, used a tack cloth but got some sticky residue from that. i spray painted over the residue, just hope it doesnt affect anything.
