I am looking to paint my stock rims a gloss black on my yellow P5. Does anyone have a good how to on this? Is there anything I can do to make the paint more chip ressistant?? Should I use primer?

Also I have some curb rash, is there any good ways to fix that. I would assume some kind of sandpaper or dremel tool??

I may give it a shot, too. I was going to get new wheels because I want something gun-metal or anthracite. After shopping around, a lot of the so called "lightweight" wheels are heavier than the stockers.

Check the phone book for places that fix rims.... Theres a place across town from me $75CDN a RIM but they weld on alum and make it smooth again and sand and repaint them.

I don't wont even spend close to $75 for the whole painting project. To much for me now since I am in between jobs right now, so for now just some bondo to fix the curb rash and some paint and sandpaper.

I will post up some pictures and mabey some tips when I start this project for those of you who are looking to do this as well

i just did mine the past week end and i just sanded it with 200 g then put 3 -4 coats of paint then a coat or two of clear coat. took me about 3 hours. the hardest part was sanding but even that was easy. here is a pic or two

Good Job. So you didn't use any primer? Can't wait to do mine

I started painting mine yesterday and will finish today most likely. Dang! they look sexy! Will post up pics soon. Also I will be writing a how to on this as well as fixing curb rash since I will also be fixing that before I paint them.

No prob, looks great. So painted them the stock silver color then? Don't forget to get your wheels balanced now.

Just a helpful tip... Be sure to add a clearcoat to the whole rim (outside and inside face. When you have the inside of the rim clearcoated, the brake dust just wipes off, with little effort!
