How to paint stock rims???

I did mine in one day...I didn't use any primer but I used enamel paint. I also sanded mine down to the bare metal. I used 250 grit sandpaper to get rid of the paint then used a 500 grit to smooth is out. That took the longest. I made sure that it was even all the way around. I sprayed 3 coats of gloss black enamel. The only thing that I had problems with was that I did it outside and a few pieces of debris got stuck on the wheel. You can only see it when you get right up on it and look for it. I didn't clear it cause I kinda like the sorta flat black look since my car is a very bright color. Here's the finished product...

Tips on painting rims

Thanks to all the great advice, the job went well. (canada)

Later on today I will post some tips of my own.

Prop the wheel up against something so that you are spraying with the can in an upright position. Otherwise the can tends to spit out globs of paint. :(

Start sanding the rust and loose paint with a coarse sandpaper first, then do an overall sanding with 220 wet dry.

You're finger tips may get sore during sanding if you fold the sandpaper over. Keep the paper side toward the hand and fingers.

Playing cards didn't work for me, I used painters tape and some plastic.

If I think of anything else I will keep adding. (thought)

dude that looks awesome...especially with the white car and black lip. do you plan on removing your roof rack and the window guards?

hey man. where did you find the black bumper light and the black headlights? or did you do that yourself?
My guess is tint spray off ebay

Yeah VHT NiteShades tint spray, for the turn signals, and there is a How-To for the headlights, it's easy to do, but does take some time/patience.

There's a how-to for the head lights. I baked it open and sanded it down and then sprayed it black.

As with the side markers, those were just masked and sprayed black. I took out the bulb because at night, the light shines through the black.

Can you please direct me to the How-to on this? I've tried but can't seem to find it. Thanks
