Very nice instructions, I certainly appreciate this. It looks like I will be doing my own coilover install after all. Sucky thing is that I don't have a spring compressor or impact.

mac, could you make just a post with all the info, so we could have it for the how to section?

I made a crude page on how to install a set of GC or lowering springs.

Cool install guide, how long did it take you to complete this? Thanks.

From the moment I drove the car in the garage to the moment I pull the last jack was about 3 hours.:)

Check your local auto parts shop, like Auto Zone or something. They can rent you a spring compressor for cheap, if not free with a deposit...I don't know about the impact wrench, but I know they have a lot of specialty tools there.

Spring compressors are not necessary. U can use the cars weight itslf as a compressor. Her is what you do.
1.Lift the car and put it on jack stands.
2.Place the jack under the bottom of the strut and jack it up to compress it.
3. Take off the retainer bolt and ease it down.

Simple as that and it doens't cost anything and saves tons of time. Take care though not to take out the four bolts near the strut tower bar before unscrewing the retainer bolt otherwise the whole assembly may slip and shoot through some paneling

Although dangerous and highly not reccomended, it still sounds kind of funny to have your spring shoot through our body panel...

Wow Mac Daddy, that was a VERY informative how-to and absolutely this is the perfect thing to add into the How-To section here on the site!
