My car was stolen, abused, and then returned to me just about a week ago. A loud knock developed, due to lack of oil i believe. Before i could get to the auto parts store, the motor sized up.
So, my plan is to find another 1.8 FP DE. how ever, i am having no luck finding that motor for under $1000. I just did a motor swap on my ex's miata for 800 all said and done. You cant tell me that is an unrealistic goal for my current situation with my protege.
I am posting this thread in hopes to draw out the collective knowledge of the people of the protege on how to go about finding a motor for a 3rd gen protege. Anyone have ideas on other motors that i might have better luck finding? I am open to the idea of a little custom work if needed.
I live in ks by the way. so if anyone knows of local engines i could buy, let me know.
does anyone know what all it would entail to put a miata motor in a 2000 protege?
or what about a later year motor?
does the mazdaspeed motor use the same size bell housing?
