How to get rid of headlight condensation??!!

Well i changed my passenger headlight bulb and like an idiot i 4got to place the rubber sealer.... After washing my car i saw that i got condensation in the headlight and now i have fog in my pass headlight. How do i get rid of it. Somebody i know said that i should wait until it goes away by itself and then put the sealer on, but i dont think that it will work. Pls help. THe front end of the Protege5 is the best attribute of this car and i hate to see my baby like this. How do i get rid of this annoyance.? Thanks in advance

Not sure if it will work, but I concidered it when I had a similar problem with my prelude. Problem with my prelude was it had standing water due to a small hole in the lense.


anyways... you may try this.
Tape or staple a string to one of thoes silca gel packs you get with shows and beef jerky and what not and stick that in there for a few days. Thoes packs can absorb something like 50x their own weight in water, or something like that IIRC, so it should be able to absorb all the humidity. Just make sure you have that string well secured to the pack, or you'll probably have to remove the whole assembly to get it out.

it should go away on its own. bake the headlight then and reseal it if that doesnt work..

What Gel Packs are you talking about? Damn i dont want to take out the assembly....

just bring the whole headlight into the house and let it airdry. i dont' think it's his seal that's broken..its the rubber piece he forgot to put back on..so I don't think you need to bake it and seal it again.

Silca Gel

Can be found in boxes of new shoes, camera bags, just about anything leather (especially suede). It's used to keep humidity low. May take a few days but it should get any condensation out.

[edit] I think most boxes for computer optical drives (ie DVD/CD) come with them also.

when people paint the insides black they heat them up in the oven to release the adhesive holding the two halves together.

No none at all. Well unless you got condesation, im sure it would get rid of it pretty quik. But theres no reason to go and bake your headlights if your not gonna take them apart to paint.

Bingo...my seal is fine..its just the rubber piece i 4got to reapply. Is the headlight difficult to remove?

Youre' gonna have to remove that side of the bumper to get to it. Other than that, it's just a bunch of unplugging and I think 2 screws, and a bunch of clips.

I had an idea....but im not sure if this would work. If you don't want to take the fixture out and bake it then you could use a hair dryer until all the water has evaporated. I did this with another car I had and it worked great.
