This "how to" has been so beneficial to me and its only fair to show u guys how i utilized this info on this awesome site to install my ebay intercooler and pipes.

thanks, I used a J pipe, 45degree coupler and a 90degree pipe into a 90degree reducing coupler.

O ok. Now I see what u did. U used a slim fan on the hot side for clearance. Looks good.

thanks! i made it with lexan (stronger than plexiglass) fiberglass panels and aluminum as you can see =) I'll take some photos the next time I remove the bumper...I want to install the 3" drier duct I purchased to draw in cold air from the side grill vent and attach it to the opening where the a cold air intake would go.

How you route your hot pipes, do you have pictures

The intercooler is made by Godspeed and the pipes were made by CX racing. I bought it seperately because and only because I didnt like the way most of the intercoolers, (that were bundled together with the pipes), looked. Most having the measurement of 27x7x2.5...I know an extra 3" isnt much...but it is to me =) everything needs to be perfect, if it isnt its wrong...lol I guess Im anal that way.

How you route your hot pipes, do you have pictures

From turbo-2.25-2.5" coupler-Jpipe-2.5"straight coupler-90degree pipe-45degree coupler-90degree pipe-90degree 2.5-2.75" coupler-intercooler.
This is probably not the best setup, since there are alot of joints, but I didnt have to sacrifice any of my other left over pipes. lol

Anyone who is considering this Hot Side routing, please be advised it is a PITA without proper tools. VeryClose tolerance, and to many joints to make it all fit right. If I were to do it over, Id do the hot side exactly like the cold side.

Sorry I didn't really answer your question. I used a 2.5" CX Racing kit, came with pipes & couplers... (2) 45PIPE (2) 90PIPE (2) STRAIGHT (2) JPIPES (1)90COUPLER (1) 45COUPLER (8) STRAIGHT COUPLERS. And a bunch of TBOLT clamps.

I also chopped up a CAI pipe i had on my old car (99 Mazda Protege).
heres a picture of the CAI installed on 99 protege


Both are used on the cold side. One of the pieces has a tab on the pipe located at the throttle body,

the other is before my bov.


(the two pieces I used could be substituted with a 90degree pipe and "roughly" a 45degree pipe)

Ok guys tried to install fmic last week, but did not have the tools to cut the crash bar, and need 90 and 45 silicone couplers to get it done, I'm going to try different route for the hot pipe, waiting for them by tuesday, I will post pictures soon, here some when I was tried to do it.

I am so upset at cxracing right now. I ordered my coupler reducer 2weeks ago and still have not receive anything. Sucks cuz my reducer has a rip and my car is running like crap due to the rip.it's bad service on their part. How come when something is needed ,something always goes wrong. I honestly feel like cxracing didn't even bother to ship my reducer which is just plain dumb.it's a $10 part that should only take a few days to get to me. By the time I receive it,I might just have a blown motor lmfao.

Piping install done!!!!

Car is not complete yet though I'm waiting for my buddy to weld my BOV flange to a small section of piping(welder ran out of gas) I also ordered 2 10" slim fans on eBay that way the piping has more clearance and there is no fan overhang from where the SMIC was.

Anywho, here's my routing and tons of pics:

Hot pipe:

Turbo > 2"-2.5" coupler > Cut U-pipe > Straight coupler > Cut 90 degree pipe > 90 degree coupler > Small cut straight pipe > 90 degree coupler > FMIC Inlet

Cold Pipe:

FMIC inlet > 90 dergree coupler > Cut 45 degree pipe > straight coupler > 6" BOV pipe > Straight coupler > MAF > Straight coupler > Small cut straight pipe > 90 degree coupler > TB

Hot Pipe:

Cold Pipe:

Vacuum block:

No rubbing, no metal to metal contact either

Not bad bro. I like your hot side. I guess with another 90 degree coupler,I can clean up my hot side. It's so much easier and cleaner with slim fans but then u spend more at the end. Mines hasn't popped off so I'm leaving mines the way it is for now.

Thats awesome! Looks very similar to the perrin/turbolife routing. Much cleaner than most peoples diy kits.

I finished up my kit today, everything fits without rubbing or bumping, but there was quite a bit of metal cutting to get it all to fit. All in all I am very happy with it.
I only paid $25 for a 10" slim fan, I could only fit one in there though.

I removed both fans. The radiator is about 22" across. So I purchased two 10" slims to replace the fans. Cost $43 shipped from ebay.

Well I didn't want to cut into any metal, but that routing looks really nice. Basically the same route as Perrin / Turbolife I think. My routing is like the high boost kit, and it sucks lol.

Evilmonkey ,now I understand what u mean about the slim fan mounting kit. Some come with the zip ties and some come with just the clips. I would assume that the zip ties are best since it's a universal fan and I don't see how the clips would line up perfect on the msp radiator.
