How to clean my Cobb SRI filter?

Do I "need" to purchase the cleaner from Cobb to do a proper job of cleaning my filter? Its not super dirty, but it does have some "dust & debris" stuck to it. Can it just be washed in soapy water (& dried off), or does it require that Cobb cleaner?

the cobb filter needs to be oiled. you can either buy the cobb cleaning kit or a k&n cleaning kit from just about any auto parts store. only thing is k&n oil is red so your filter will look purple instead of blue.
