Just got back last night from an 800 mile weekend excursion and when I went to wash off all the lovely bug splatter and road grime I found several spots of dark black grease all over one side of my car. I'm guessing it came off the trailer hookup on the back of a semi or something of that nature.
The stuff is nasty and does not clean off well at all. I took a paper towel, wet it, poured car-wash soap onto it, and tried to use that to pull a bunch of it off before getting it all into my sponge, but it did not come off really well. You don't see the black now, but you can tell that there is stuff on the car - that kind of filmy rainbow effect when light hits it.
Any suggestions for something to remove this stuff without paint damage? I'm kind of leery about a lot of available chemicals as the Mazda paint seems fragile - several tiny nicks and chips and only 2200 miles on the car.
