How to access CX-5 firewall for amp install?

I'm trying to figure out how i can access th firewall to run my power wire through. I've read that there is a rubber grommet below the battery which in my RHD cx5 comes out near the passenger footwell, the problem is there is an fan unit blocking access to the rubber grommet and it looks near impossible to remove. So i'm really out of options? it seems like drilling a hole will be the only way in RHD cx5's.

I drilled a hole through the firewall and installed my own grommet. There is a factory dent in the firewall in the space where a clutch pedal would go in the manual versions. I found this dent ideal for drilling.
