How the *%$@#! does this happen!?

I'm actually surprised they are fixing it, since it's a normal wearable item. I've had this happen to two cars while living in the rust belt (Milwaukee, WI and Rochester, NY). I'm now in the DC area, and the car has seen one winter so far and there doesn't seem to be much rust. The system is getting replaced by the Vibrant stainless though, so I won't have to worry about it anymore.

Good luck getting a Mazdaspeed6 if you decide to go that route.

I didn't expect any hassle from them on fixing it. I think the rusting pipe falls under the body rust proofing warranty. I believe that it's 5 years/100k miles.

Yeah. I'm waiting for my local stealerships to get an M6S in. Hopefully they'll let me drive it. See if it's all it's cracked up to be. I'm not going ot buy one straight off though. I assume they will be hard to move, just like the MSMiatas were. And you can get those HEAVILY discounted now. Especially since the new MX-5 came out.

Yup...I got my MSM for 21,000 out the door including tax and fees back in February, long before the NC Miata came out.

An exhaust pipe is most definitely NOT a normal wearable item. Wear & tear items include things like brakes, clutch, the cloth on the seats, etc. and are only warranteed for the first 12 months / 12K miles.

the problem lies in the fact that the car has issues from the factory. i dont care what anyone says, or where you live...if you have those crappy welds busting in such short order, that is bulls***. my POS pontiac sunfire held up better than half of the MSPs on this board.

And BTW I have no life and feel obligated to stick around and troll this forum even though I no longer own a Mazda. The guys over at NASIOC won't accept me because I'm an asshat, so I'll stay here instead.
nothing better than when a mod instigates problems but blames it on you (boom07)

i guess we could go on and on about how since you cant beat me by actually saying anything to me, you could just be a loser enough to edit my posts.

all this because some poor wittle mod couldnt take it that i said it is unacceptable to have a 2-3 year old car from the factory with welds rusting out and pipes falling off.

oh waaaaahhaaaa....

Well, actually I had first deleted your post. But then I, who like nearly all of the staff am tired of your s***, decided to have a little fun at your expense.

YOU are on thin ice, and I, as well as other staff members, will not allow your trolling in the section(s) we moderate. While the admins for whatever reason have not simply banned you, remember that I am responsible for keeping this section under wraps. Any bulls*** you post in this section will be prompty deleted, edited to remove the instigative or offensive content, or edited in the way your post in this thread was. You are creating more work for me, and I decided to make cleaning up after you a more enjoyable experience for me as well as others.

Now, back on topic for everyone, myself included. Any further off-topic posts in this thread, by anyone, will be removed.

bad welding+rust=****** exhaust...but damn...i've never seen s*** happen that bad

The same thing happened to the Apex catted downpipe that I on my MSP, except that the weld separated at the front flange where it attached to the stock s-pipe.

Sometimes these things just happen. Could have been a weak piece of metal tubing, a bad weld, a rock on the road striking it in the right spot, or many other possible explanations.

To the original posted -- I wouldn't worry too much about this. It's nothing major. When you have something as complex and with as many parts as an automobile, it should be expected that some parts may be faulty This is the reason why we have a warranty.

don't be dumb... and did they just weld it back or replaice? lol just knowing mazda (poke) they used duct tape lol (hah)

The same thing happened to me when I had just a few thousand miles on the car. Mazda fixed it along with some other things. Now I have an aftermarket exhaust and I never want that dual cat restrictive stock exhaust back.

Yes, that happened to me. Blame the engine flex. Only flex is in the springs that press the cat pipe against the j pipe. The warranty on this item is longer b/c it's an emissions component. It's in the owners manual if you care to find out how long it is. I took it back out after I got a new one still b/c running catless is a night and day difference. Also, if your turbo has a slight high pitch whine into boost and you have the stock cats, if you go catless that sound will go away b/c the reduced back pressure.
