well as you may know, my stock exhaust rotted and broke. well, just the axle back. when i had my car lifted, i noticed that the rest of the exhaust was all rusted and flakey, so after debating over and over i decided to get a vibrant exhaust. Im just curious of the performance gain to expect or what my hp would be like. My current mods are CustomMSP smic, su hot and cold pipes, hks ssqv, injen intake, and as soon as it comes in, the vibrant. oh yeah and i have awr motor mounts in the closet somewhere too. whatcha think?

I would say at stock boost level maybe like 12-15whp. Noticeable get up and go difference :)....it is rather loud in the car though!

if you had full stock exhaust, the gain will be substantial. like 15-20. exhaust is the best mod for this car

i think that you should get the exhaust and take the cat out and replace it with a 3' straight pipe like the rest of the (vibrant) exhaust and it will be nice and deep. And more gains.

at his horse power levels, the cat isnt too restrictive.

also, the 2.5 inch section is like a foot long. again, at his power level 2.5 inch is probably big enough meaning the 3 inch is overkill.

point being, the performance gains are not substantial enough to replace the high flow cat and the short 2.5 inch section of pipe.

I don't know his set up, but i was just trying to help!!! And the cat does affect performance in the long run from all the deposits of carbon that get trapp in there.

I noticed a huge difference when i pulled the cat outta my Vibrant.

is this from the butt dyno or a real dyno?

at lower power levels, i just dont see replacing the cat worth the time, effort, or money. My definition of huge is not a few hp and at these levels i cant imagine there is a "huge" difference.

if you arent building an all out monster, one high flow cat is fine. i feel its not worth the money to remove the cat and get it replaced. not to mention if you have visual inspections or emission testing, you will pass with the cat. I read your post about the visual inpsection, you got lucky!

i have the corksport TBE with no cats its very nice i do say but it doesnt have cats and i did notice a nice increase in power

There also has never been a visual requirement, only ODBII plug in and gas cap test. I never did a dyno just between cat and none, but with the addition of a turbo mani and removal of cat I jumped from 189 to 213 on dyno. Also you can't even feel a difference in <7 whp difference so i'd be willing to bet it was higher than 7 since I definetely could feel it after I took it off. the car pulled a lot harder and lost way more traction.

im glad it worked out for you, seriously. we can agree to disagree about whether we feel its worth the trouble or not.

From stock to similar mods to yours (Vibrant, TH SMIC, and Injen CAI) I picked up 26 whp. Couldn't afford to test each one individually. FWIW, the Vibrant sounds great outside the car, but I also think it's way too noisy inside the car. What's so weird is that mine wasn't that way for the first few months I owned it, but that's another story entirely.

i cant wait for it to get here!! now the o2 sensor has to go after the cat?

yeah, it'll come with an extension kit and it is pretty easy to extend the wires. If you are doing the work yourself hit me up in PM and I'll walk you through some great wiring advice.
