How much did you pay for your 3 ???

You'll love the car but you're going to kick yourself for as long as you own it.

Your "high demand/low supply vehicle" is now being offered with 0% financing and cash incentives.

Never EVER pay full MSRP.

Over MSRP is for fools and Harleys (same-same).

I hope you've learned your lesson. (shrug)

I paid 19,100 out the door (TTL And destination) for a dark grey 3s with leather, sport package, and floormats.

EDIT: and AT tranny

my first post!

Please try not to laugh too hard, but I wanted a 3s so bad that I took the hit. My only true concern was that the 3 be a 4 door s with 5 speed manual transmission. Of secondary import was the pkgs and opts. Well, the 2 dealerships in my area had between them 6 3i and 4 3s units. Well, my selection became even smaller at that point, as only 1 s had a 5 speed. This 3s had no pkgs and only 1 "true" option-rear spoiler- and tinted windows. Now here comes the really sad state of MY affairs - The dealership was reasonable in their pricing of the spoiler and the tint, but the "ADJUSTMENT FOR MARKET VALUE" charge of 2,000.00 above MSRP really made me want to cry as I was signing the paperwork. For those who are not aware of bthis "charge," it is what the dealer adds to the cost of the car because the car is popular and people will pay extra (like I did) to own a high demand/low supply vehicle.

If I had ABS, 6 disc CD changer, 17inch wheels, tire pressure monitor, and even an illuminated rearview on my 3s right now I wouldn't care about the 2k.

This is my first Mazda. I traded a 2002 Civic LX w/30k and flawless interior/exterior and (best part of the deal!!!) no balance left. The dealer gave me 10100.00 for the trade which brought the monthly to 171.00.

Somebody please humor me and tell me how much I am going to love this car-- Please?!

Cheers

Dude have some patience and wait for your car this is a serious investment. Like holy cow pick the one you want and the dealer will get it for you. Talk to 10 dealers if you have to. Send out a mass email or call them. No need to go to the dealership. Like pick your car and call for a price. Anyways even with the popularity of the mazda 3 you should be getting close to 1000 CDN Or 700 USD off the MSRP. That still ensures that the dealer makes some coin. You see it's not like when you sell your call and you try to get as much as you can cause you can only sell it once. The dealer can sell the car and then sell another one and so on. Therefore if he makes a couple hundred bucks on a quick sale then business is good. I told the dealer to take the few hundred bucks and run or else I would go to the next dealer. Anyways I was quoted ridiculous prices too, but you just have to turn them down.

But either way I dont think you can actually overpay for this car. A great car.

Two factors were at play here: I had been working for Maricopa County Superior Court in their Information Tech Group. My position began 4/7/04. So, I had 4 months at my current employer. Also, I had a BK from 4 years ago. My Honda had just been returned to me after 7500.00 worth of body and mechanical repairs. The car was truly stunning after they got done with it (I was run off a narrow 2 lane hiway and ended up in a deep canyon.) was lucky I lived. So, I got a 3i 4 door as a rental from Hertz. I had never driven a Mazda. This i had the sport at and no real opts to speak of. "MY God!!!!!!" I feel on my face in love with that car!!! This was the 2.0l and I had a lot of trouble believing they had something more potent. Well, I got approved for a loan at Earnhardts in Phoenix and had to peruse their inventory. Anyway, all the dealerships in the city were down to 2-3 3s w/5spd man. I had to get financing at Earnhardt's and with a 10000.00 pd off trade in, I felt I had some leverage.

All in all, I am truly loving the car. It IS fun to drive. I look forward to hearing what all of you have to say about your 3 s

Cheers

Just got mine paid 18,684 after tax (8.625% in NYC) and destination charge. Got black mica S sedan with auto tranny. Invoice for that according to Edmunds is 16,861 and the TMV price thingy that they list is 17,719 both pretax. Mine pretax was 17,200 so I guess I did ok =O).

OK OK This is My Reasoning For What I Did.

Despite some of the condescending remarks made by some of you, I will hold my head high as I drive my 3. I realize I had some financial problems 3-4 years ago. To be quite honest, I made a lot of money in the 90's
coding GUIs for long distance service providers. In 1999 I tried heroin for the first time and that was it for me. My wife left me, I lost my job.............EVERYTHING! (500.00/day habit will drain your "emergency fund" real quick) They say 2-5% of heroin addicts stay sober a year. I have 4 years, 3 months. I am sorry for digressing here, I am just a little upset with people who chastise me for not waiting for a better deal. Due to my bankruptcy and small job history since I went into recovery, I have been limited to 2 dealers. Tell me this friends?! How many of you would (if you were a lender) lend money to a recovering heroin addict? My point is this - - - I am new to this forum, I am a real Mazada newbie, I am beginning to love my car and I would like to feel at home here. Apparently there is a lot to learn and from what I am seeing, this is the place to be. I am rebuilding my life, and I want to do it right this time, thus I am going to need all the info I can get.

Frankly, I am just grateful that I am alive and capable of owning the car.

Cheers!

Not to be condescending, but where does it say on your credit report that you were a heroin addict? (scratch)

Besides, you obviously knew you were getting a raw deal.

Please try not to laugh too hard, but I wanted a 3s so bad that I took the hit.
...2,000.00 above MSRP really made me want to cry as I was signing the paperwork.

We're just agreeing with you. :D

Your personal life is your own business.

It's All Good

I am proud of what I have overcome. I am also proud of my 3s. I guess my point is---if I overpaid (final price was 18763.00) so be it, I am just grateful to be alive and to have such a swell car!!!!!!!!! (2thumbs)

paid 18535(19035-500rebate) for an 04 Mazda3S winning blue, AT, sport package, 6cd&moon, ABS/SAB. Hope I got a a decent deal, doesnt seem so bad - MSRP was 19695.

edit: this was without tax tag title, averall it was like 20 almost.

I paid the invoice price for my Mazda3. Granted, I didn't have a trade-in, so that made negotiations a little easier. Also, I was there haggling for 2 hours.

On another note, the only car on the lot that had the options I wanted also had navigation (whick I thought was cool but didn't want to pay for). Because you can get a better deal on what they have on the lot, I went with it. After bringing the car home, I did some research and found that the maps with the DVD system they are selling were released in 2001. The 2005 version comes out in Sept. 04. Thus, I paid about $1500 for a navigation system with 3 year old maps.

The update comes out in about 2-3 weeks, and I just bought the car last week. Navtech wants between $115 and $200 for the update. As of right now, Mazda is unwilling to provide me with a new disc since the only version available when the car was made was the 2002 edition with 2001 maps on it. Of course, I'm still working on them. If you're going to get the navigation system, hold out and buy a car that is manufactured after September 04 so you get the latest maps.

So nobody's been having a problem negotiating below sticker? The dealer I talked to say these cars are so popular that any reasonably-loaded vehicle doesn't stay on the lot for long. I was thinking that I would have to negotiate to $700 under sticker (that's what Edmunds says), but these prices mentioned indicate that you might be able to dicker off more.
Price the car you want on Edmunds.com, and then add 3% to the invoice cost. That should make you and your dealer happy. However, I practically stole my 3 S from the dealer by looking at the inspection stickers on the windows. I found a particular car that had been on the lot since Feb. (I just bought my 3 on Thursday [totally totally love it]) and said, "I'll give you ____ for it and will drive it off the lot today." After trying to counter-offer me 8 or 9 times, I won! They lose serious money on cars that have been on the lot for a while.

Also, the '05 models are coming out in October, so they're anxious to lighten their stock. You can definitely score well below sticker.

Good luck!

$16,688 US + Tax, title and license
That was in April, and there have been a few price increases.

5spd, 5door, 1AB, 1MC packages.
And yes, I know I stole it.

Since then, I bought the cargo mat, the cargo net and the red first aid kit.

The 225/45x17 Kumho MX tires were unavoidable, along with the tint.
Still shopping for wheels, but it's cramping my mod budget for the other car.

I got the mazda 3i with the power package, appearance 1 package, a/c, and automatic for $16,900. Got the s-plan discount, and also 500 off for college grad this semester.

I paid about $24000 out the door for my 3s sedan with auto, leather, sunroof, HID, navigation, ABS/CD Changer, wheel locks, etc... I think it was one of the first 3's in the area. I bought it back in December of 2003. It took four days to get the deal as I was trading a 2002 Protege5 with 40,000 miles and still owed $12,900 on the loan. I knew my payoff on the P5 was close to dealer retail value and it was in good enough shape to sit on their lot to be sold. The deal I offered was retail for retail... Since it was the first 3s they had they wanted to give me $8000 for trade and MSRP plus $500 "market adjustment" for the 3. I just left and told them to call me when they were ready to sell the car. After four days on Dec 31st at about 7:00pm they finally agreed to the offer. I got $12,900 trade in value on my 2002 P5 and I paid MSRP on the 3... I probably could hve gotten the car for about $1500 less now but considering how long the car had been out and the amount owed on my trade I'm pleased how it worked out.

The sticker price on my read 19,585. I wasnt willing to pay that, but I wanted what I wanted to I made sure I was gonna get it. I checked out the dealership near me in Myrtle Beach and they wouldnt hear it. So I told them I was goin to Charleston and they told me I couldnt get what I wanted which was around $315-$320 a month for the 5 doorS. I got to Palmetto around 8:00 just before they were closing. I looked at many they had on their lot. I chose to go without leather and without navigation, neither really concerned me. So I made my decsion on a 19,585 black 5 door. We went over some paper work with on $334 down for taxes, tags and reg. I walked out the door an hour later with a 17,900 dollar automobile with everything i wanted, including sunroof/6disc, unfortunately auto, but im always in traffic, ABS and all that stuff. I was very pleased, yet they made nothin on the car. But I got what I wanted and I am very happy with my car. Setting it up for some mods soon.

My Titanium 3S Sedan came in yesterday.(whoo-hoo!). Manual trans and sport pkg- 17's and side skirts. $17,800 after tax (7.5%) and delivery. Came with free dealership oil/filter change for as long as I own it, and first ding repair free.

I'm stoked- already put on 125 miles.

wow...this thread is still alive?

BTW: I ended up not getting a 3 since my wife didn't want it at all...

Still holding on to the Maxima for now :)
