How Much Can i Lower my P5, and still Drive it in Winter?

Well i wanna lower my P5 when i get it, and i'd like to know how much i can lower it, but still keep it running in the winter. I car always looks a little better when it's lowered, i find at least. Thanx Guys.

Well first of all i live in Brandon Manitoba Canada, so we get a fair deal of snow. Just Guess. To be on the safe side, how much can i lower it? 1.5-2 inches? or can i go more?

it depends on how you want your car to handle. if you get a lot of snow, i wouldn't lower it at all. (but that's me) the ground clearance on the protege is about 6 inches or so, so if the snow gets deeper than that, you will be plowing it with your car, it may even cause the front of your car to lift up. so like i said, it depends.

I live in Quebec and we have pretty bad winters...Anyone in Quebec in this chatroom will agree with me...if I were u, I would only lower it between 1.25-1.5 inches...No more!!! just my 2 cents!!!(sun)

lower it as much as you want...it will be fine...of course i live in arizona where it doesn't snow and the sun shines all the time...

just depends on what kind of weather you have during the winter and how much you intend on driving through it...

I live in Toronto, and last winter, there was quite a lot of snow at the end of January and I noticed I could hardly get anywhere without scraping ice (hard freaky scraping noises too). I definietely wouldn't lower the car if you don't plan to throw stock springs back on in the winter. I've noticed the P5 to have a very low ground-clearance, sadly, its wheelgap is still pretty big.

Awesome guys, thanx a lot, you guys all rule. But another question. Does it take much to lower your car in the summer, and raise back up with the factory springs in the winter? And is it very hard on the car?

I'm here in Winnipeg...and there aren't too many places that get as much snow as we do in the winter unfortunately so definitely don't lower it too much. I was speaking with another member from here the other day and with his 18's on, he said he can't lower it at all.

I'm from Quebec and I agree with cameleon3, 1.5 inches is the max I would lower the car. It's not just the front that will lift up in deep snow, the whole car will and you will loose traction COMPLETELY. But if you add a few hundred pounds of sand in the car, lower the thing, say about 3 inches, you can get contracts to clear driveways...lol
