I am starting to hate it and will take it off soon. It seems like it is harder to shift (more force), and i hate that it is soo low and makes the shift knob look huge.

Dude,

your shifter is getting harder to shift because you need to lube it up some more... did you even use the correct lubricant?

As for the shifter being too low making the shift knob look huge, I think its just your imagination...

Try lubing your shifter again, and the shifting should be smooth as new...

if not, I'll take your STS for free... lol

there is a shifter counter weight where the cable meets the transmission.

If you remove the battery and battery tray you'll see it below. it's just a big weight held on by two screws. remove this weight and you'll be amazed at how it changes the feel of the shifter.

that weight was counter acted by the looooonnnnnng stock shifter. when you shortened the lever you lost the mechanical advantage and the weight became too much.

You can also dial in the shifter feel by added some weight back to this area. I put in several washes to add some resistance to the shifter; by adding or removing washers you can dial it in to your liking.

I've only had mine a couple months but I love it. The counterweight suggestion may be worth a shot, its real easy to get at without that stock air box in.

to be honest, the stock knob, and the TWM knob are just about the same weight, I kinda felt shafted on thinking I needed a new knob when in fact the stock knob is just fine...

although it is a good suggestion to take off that counter weight, it really isn't necessary...just lube up the shifter with ample amount of grease, and it should fix the problem...if it doesn't try that counter weight thing... goodluck

TWM makes several knobs. Some are closer to the stock weight and others are way heavier. The one I use is almost twice as heavy.

To the OP: a heavier knob fromTWM will help. They are also adjustable so you can get close to the stock height again if you desire. You can also try removing the counterweight just to see if you like the feel. Cobb is also releasing a modified (lighter) counterweight to lighten up the shifter a bit.

The benefit if the shorter shifts are too great for me to even think about going back to stock.

My girfriend has the TWM shifter and Type R Black Knob in her Speed Protege. It is by far her favorite mod and mine too...made it like a formula car transmisson the shifts were so short...when combined with the kartboy bushings its amazing the shift feel is spot on...she has not missed a shift in two years since I put it in...

Anyway the TWM shifter will probably be my first mod to mynew MS3 since the COBB intakes are like rocking horse s***...

Their quality is unsurpassed and I am sure I will be happy with the results. For you guys that think the shifting is hard you should try shifting a sequential box in a Ferrari F430 GT sometime...its a BIG TUG trust me...

no complaints here with my TWM, only noticeable issue would be once installed, the shifter isn't always centered in the hole of the console, ie in 2,4,6 the lever is pretty far back, almost touching the edge of the console, but there isn't any adjustment I could see during installation. Works fine, but looks somewhat different from stock in this regard.
